Myzril, honestly at that point I am just happy to inform them that they have several other albums before American Idiot and that they are all nearing 40, haha.
It's always cool to see someone who also enjoys the new stuff, who listens to the old stuff XD. I have all of their albums and appreciate all of their albums, but my favorite is 21st Century Breakdown, actually. American Idiot was my favorite before that and of course I still love it but 21st Century Breakdown is even better, it is everything I liked about AI, but bigger and better, haha.
For the next album, it seems, the sky is the limit.
The sky or the ground... I don't mean that as in crappy, but like... just basic. They could really do whatever they want right now. Billie Joe said that he might encourage Mike to do some more songwriting... supposedly they have laid down a couple of things while they have been over in England
Yeah, hopefully he will sing a little bit more, as well. I prefer Billie Joe's voice, but I think it would add a little bit of variety to the music and I am open to that. I mean I like the part he does in American Eulogy...
Haha, I did, yes. Well you should visit my thread in my signature :P. If you haven't already.
Sticking to the topic of the thread, did you see/hear about how Billie caleld the European Music Awards "best rock" award the "best cock award"? XD. By accident.
Yeah it was kind of funny. It is funny how he never seems to be particularly comfortable when it is someone else's spiel... like at award shows and whatnot... but when they are playing he is totally on top of the world. I mean obviously it is not that surprising, but... XD.
Oh, so glad I found a Green Day thread. Best. Band. EVER.
I've listened to them since middle school, and it seems like Billie Joe has written a song for every major event in my life. The last time I ever saw my great-grandfather (the closest thing I've ever had to a father), as soon as I walked out of his room at the hospice, Wake Me Up When September Ends started playing on the radio in the lobby. When I got kicked out of my home (two days before I was planning to secretly move out) I heard Welcome to Paradise on the radio as I was driving away with a van packed full of my stuff. Most recently, I went through a nasty breakup with my then fiancee after i found him cheating on me. I was really upset, and when I got to a friend's house where I was staying overnight, I broke out my 21st Century Breakdown CD and as soon as 21 Guns had finished playing, I was over it and never cried over that guy again. Funny enough I heard a radio interview a few weeks later where Billie said that song was about going through a change even though you don't want to and how it turns out better in the end, and he said "It could be about moving, about your parents, or even about a divorce or a nasty break-up."
Now my new boyfriend's ringtone is Last Night On Earth because for the first 4 months of our relationship we could only see each other at night, so he was 'the moonlight of my life every night'.
I swear, the man writes the soundtrack to my life. xD
When they did the Foxboro Hot Tubs tour, I went to see them in Austin...I got my heart grenade purse signed by Tre, and I'll never forget what he said. I walked up to him as he was sitting at the bar just shooting the breeze with people and said "I know I'm probably the 80th asshole to ask you this, but can I get your autograph?" And he smiled and took my pen, and as he signed my purse he said "There's nothing wrong with being an asshole. Of course, I could say 'you are what you eat', but that would just be wrong!" and gave me that crazy sideways Tre Cool smile.
When the show started, Billie grabbed my hand three times, crowdsurfed directly over me (I had to plant my hands square on his ass and shove him up to keep him from falling, lucky me), and during Blood, Sex, & Booze he crawled along the edge of the stage and got in my face with the mic, so I got to harmonize the chorus with him. A few songs later, during 27th Ave. Shuffle, he got down on his knees and crawled off the stage until his forehead was pressed up against mine as he was singing and I got to give him a really big long hug. All I could think of was that he smelled like candy even though he was sweating buckets, and his hair looked like a Brillo pad but it was super soft and silky :insane:
That was the best night of my life and I'd relive it again, even though my bf at the time (the one who ended up cheating) got super pissed because he swore that I kissed Billie, and we fought about it until more than a year later when I left him. I totally should have in retrospect, but then again I have too much respect for Billie's marriage and his love for Adrienne.
When I moved in with my new boyfriend, I assembled this collage from all my 21CB stuff that I had tacked to my apartment wall. I'm rather proud of it.
Wow... it's really amazing to hear stories like that and it only makes me love the band that much more. Pretty much everything they do makes me love them even more, though. Haha.
As for the kissing, 'The Reverend' kissed a lot of people, it's not like it meant anything, he was being a showman. I haven't (thankfully) experienced any of the things that you have said that there is a song for, and many of the things that are written about I know and live only through the words of the songs, but I still feel that Green Day is "my band' and that they were put on this earth just for me. They are the reason for my friendship with a person I never would have known were it not for them. We are very close, and I am thankful to Green Day even if they never put out another song or did another show again, for giving me that friendship.

It's amazing how the bring people together. I met a girl at the FBHT show and it turned out she was at the August 9th show in San Antonio- we got into the soundcheck party together, and were talking for twenty minutes before we realized we'd met before ;P
What are your favorite GD songs? In no particular order, I love Rest, Ballad of Wilhelm Fink, Too Much Too Soon, Blood Sex & Booze, Restless Heart Syndrome, & When It's Time.
I dunno. I don't know if I even have favorite Green Day songs. I mean, I have those that I like more than the rest, but if I started trying to name favorites I would end up naming half of their songs. XD.
And "When It's Time"? I have not heard that one. Is it a b-side or something?
Billie performed this at Mike's wedding, and at the Madison Square Garden show during the 21CB tour. You can download an MP3 of this recording from the Green Day Authority. I think it is probably my #1 favorite.
i have been in love with green day from the first time i heard them which was like a least five years ago when i heard their song american idiot ever since then ever time i hear some thing about green day and a new song and new albam im like freak out.
I'm the biggest Green Day fan I know. I've gotten Tre's autograph, had Billie attach himself to my face, touched Mike's bass (and apologized for possibly detuning it), and danced with them onstage. I've seen them play as the Foxboro Hot Tubs, and then again last year as Green Day, where I got into the soundcheck and was the first on on the floor to see Billie perform Last Night on Earth and Good Riddance while standing about five feet in front of me. Their music has gotten me through the best and worst times of my existence, and helped me enjoy life & become a better person. Best band ever, in my opinion.
