This time Jack climbed the ladder with one hand on the tub the whole way, keeping it steady. She slipped a few times, and almost fell once, but kept the tub stable the whole way up. As soon as the tub got to the top, she climbed back down, and began organizing the last load.

as jack organized the last load, erik looked on towards out of town, trying to see the zombies.

Posting as: GOD!!! The zombies had made in almost halfway to town. There had to be at least a thousand of the damn things. They filled the highway, spilling into the fields on either side. The moans were already audible, even from this distance.

Posting as: Jack... Jack sighed and finished loading the last of the stuff into the tub. She began to climb with it again, like she had before. She looked up at Erik, who was looking out towards the road. "Hey! you see them?"

erik started pulling on the rope.
"...yea, i see em... let's hurry up."
he pulled steadily, a little faster than the last time, but still trying to keep the speed as steady as he could.

Jack groaned. "Damn zombies..." She began to climb a bit faster, holding onto the tub, she hurried down as soon as it was up, and began stacking the last odds and ends into the 2 remaining tubs.

erik waited and watched the zombies carefully, holding the cross in his wrist on that hand, saving a few words under his breath before returning to the rope and holding it securely, waiting.

Jack loaded the extra tubs into the empty as quickly as she could. She grasped it with one hand and began climbing with it as fast as she could. Right near the top, she got the edge of the tub over the edge of the rooftop, and her foot slipped. Jack lost her grip on the ladder, falling back to the ground. She lay quiet on her back, sprawled out on the ground.

erik's eyes opened wide as he dropped the rope and quickly moved down the ladder, tapping jack on the cheek.
"hey, hey, you ok?"

Jack moaned softly, her eyes fluttering. Her fingers grasped at the air as she fought to wake up. After a short while, her eyes slowly opened, she looked around, a bit confused, and tried to focus on Erik's face. She seemed to be having difficulty doing so, and shifted to try to get up. As soon as she moved her right leg, she winced in pain. Upon closer inspection, her ankle was twisted at an odd angle beneath her. Her grimaced and managed to sit up, still looking pretty dazed.
"What the fuck happened?"

erik sighed.
"you slipped. now, come on. you're not staying here."
he knelt on his knee, facing away from her.
"get on my back. no time. just hold on tight, alright?"

Jack looked annoyed. "Why don't I just get my ass up like any other asshole?" She stood, shakily. As she tested her ankle, she winced again, but managed to get to the ladder on her own. "I think it's just a bit of a sprain. I'm fine." She grumbled. "I just need a fucking cigarette....."

erik nodded and waited for her.
"fine. if you can make it..."
he waited behind her, intending to follow.

Jack hauled herself up the ladder, not making a sound, her lips pressed together into a thin white line. She rolled over the edge of the roof, and sat down, lighting up a cigarette before she was even completely settled on the ground. In about 2 drags, half of the cigarette was gone.

erik climbed up and looked to jack's ankle.
"what'd we find in the way of medical supplies?"
taking a seat on the roof and checking the zombies.

Jack crawled over to the pile of stuff and started digging through it. "Hang on...."

erik thought for a moment.
"maybe we should find a way to splint it... keep it from moving..."
looking over the stuff.

Jack rolled her eyes. "I doubt it's broken, I could walk, remember? I think it's just sprained." She found one of the first-aid kits and popped it open. She pulled out the ACE bandage, and began to wrap it tightly around her ankle. She squeezed her eyes shut and bit her lip, lighting another cigarette as soon as she was done.

erik sighed and shrugged.
"well, as long as you can walk. if it slows you down at all, it could mean death..."
looking to the coming zombies.
"well, we should start setting this place up for night time..."
he started taking the lights and setting them up around the roof.

Jack nodded, helping the best she could. She chain smoked as she emptied the tubs,filling them with 2 firelogs each, and a bit of the random flammable materials. She set them near the walls, forming a triangle they could keep camp in.

erik nodded at the fire pits, looking around.
"there should be some power outlets out here somewhere... they usually have them...."
scanning the roof.

Posting as: GOD!!! After a fairly extensive search, Erik found power outlets along the walls. Each wall had 2, so they were evenly spaced over the rooftop. Jack began trying to make a shelter with the rope and tarps, but was having a fairly hard time with it so far.

Posting as: Jack... "DAMNIT!!!" Jack tossed down the rope in frustration. She couldn't find a place to tie the ropes that would hold them up. She wanted to hang the tarps, so the would have a little cover. The tarps would also be very visible to anyone in a plane or helicopter.

erik positioned the flood lights around to make sure the whole roof had light, plugging them into the outlets and moving over to jack.
"maybe we should give up on a tent for now. we don't really have a way to put it up..."
he sat on the ground and looked through the remaining items

Jack sighed unhappily. "Well, I"ll think on it, maybe I can figure something out." She left the tarps and ropes in a pile, and started organizing the rest of the supplies.

erik stayed sitting, looking through their items.
"we'll have to figure a way to carry this stuff..."

Jack nodded, finishing up her organizing. "We might have to leave some of it." She pulled out the campstove, and started to prepare a hot dinner for everyone. "I hope this works ok, I'm not the best cook..."
