There does seem to have been a sudden influx of people. Hallo everyone!

I'm nearly half way through listening to Peril at End House (79 tracks because I won't listen to anything abridged). The television adaptation was on the other day too, but I didn't want to spoil it. >.<

Yay! I am one of those new members. I have also sadly been taught the perils of buying a book off e-bay. I asked for Eminem's auto biography from my mum so she said she would look on e-bay for me. It came like 3 days later and I was really excited since I had recently fallen in love with him again after We Made You. But then I opened it and found out it was by some other guy. I still thought it would be worth a read but no. It is so boring,. I have read more about rap in general and JayZ and 50Cent rather than Eminem. All he did was plaster his picture on the front and say it was a biography. I was so not impressed. So now I need to get his real one *sighs*

Hey there everyone!

I'm afraid that a slow internet connection means that I don't have time to update the front page tonight, but I promise to have everyone's list added to the main post by next week. :yes:

Most of the books I've bought from eBay have been alright. Once I bought a poetry book and someone had already annotated the poems despite there being no mention of it in the listing whatsoever. If I'd paid a lot for the book I would have complained, but they'd probably just said I should have asked. Good luck finding the real book!

I get a lot of books from PlayTrade because of the free delivery, but half of the time when the seller says the conditition is 'good' I know they really mean average. ^^;

I never really buy books from e-bay but the other ones I have bought have been good. I prefer bookshops, I am a sucker for that cracking sound you hear as soon as you open a new book. Though I usually get paperback. I had a thing for autobiographies though. I am nosy so I thought I would take Eminem. But no. My mum found the real book but said she could get it cheaper in a shop so got me that instead thinking it was the same just with a different cover. It wasn't. Plus it came with a free DVD so thats why it was more expensive.

Sometimes I go onto play.com. They do good book deals at times. I only use that if I really want the book though.

I've read a few autobiographies and biographies as part of my challenge, they've been interesting. Recently I bought a biography about Seve Ballesteros. Even though I'm not a huge golf fan, I think his life story will be interesting.

I buy a lot of books online or second hand because I just begrudge paying £6-8 for a book I know I can get cheaper elsewhere (read: I am cheap). A book has to be pretty specialist/obscure for me to buy it from a book shop. XD

Well I don't really have the option of buying online much as for some strange reason my mum won't give me her pin number for her bank account and I don't have one of my own so I have to ask first. Thats why I mostly get from shops, or borrow from friends. I ask for the most expensive stuff for christmas though :)

Heh, I've had my own bank account since I was 16.

Ah, I'm ordering another copy of The Damned United. Hopefully this one wasn't catalogued wrong and is fit to be sold. -_-

I am only 14. I have one. I got it at school when I was 4. It has exactly 32p in it :) I spent it on clothes not so long ago. I am getiing the real eminem book now so I am delighted. Im October I shall also be adding Frankie Boyles one to my list. Though for some mad reason my friend is trying to get me buy Michael Jacksons one, I think she wants it. I told her no though. I like some of his songs (about three) so I refuse to buy a book on that basis. It was written in the 80's but she thinks it will be updated with all the modern drama's like dangling his baby out the window to show fans or his death. No. *shakes head*

I haven't read that. Is it good?

Frankie Boyle is a legend. I didn't realise he was bringing a book out, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Reading the synopsis though, I think it's better that if I do move to Glasgow I'll be there before I read about how horrible some of it is in Frankie's view. >.<

I haven't read The Damned United yet, I wanted to see the film but I just never got round to it. When I ordered it before I went on holiday I got back to find out my order had been refunded because the book was water damaged. I know it's highly fictionalised and the Clough family don't approve of it but since I wasn't there I hope I can just approach it like a novel anyway.

Terry Pratchett's new book is about football too, yay!

Yeah when I googled him I found out that he played a part in the game
Grand Theft Auto IV: Lost & Damned, in a comedy club skit and he was releasing an autobiography in October 2009. I have been in Glasgow a few times and have watched Still Game & Chewing The Fat and that (customary New years eve veiwing in Scotland) so I have a pretty rough idea that its full of Neds and that. Plus the accent annoys me. :P But they do make good comedy.

Oh well it sounds good. I have actually never read a Terry Practchet book, I watched the Hogfather though. It was OK.

Have you ever read Skellig?

It's actually called the star catcher. It was May's donation item.

Hey, at least I'm losing days due to pain medication and not due to what ever you do. xD
Audio books would kill me. xD I hate them, the narrators never sound right.

Sorry Elara, I was falling asleep on my keyboard last night so I went to bed.

I did Skellig in school, but that was a fair while ago. I remember it being an improvement on most of the books we had to work on though. XD

Heh, my mum mentioned she might watch it at Easter but we didn't. ^^;

They've cast Steve Pemberton as Drumknott in Sky's adaptation of Going Postal. Ugh, I don't want to watch it now.
