Sorry. I'm flailing at every possible community that I'm in. xD
Well, she got up from the table at Red Lobster to use the bathroom and I put the box on the table for her to find later. We got into conversation and about halfway through she notices that its there and says "Oh god... what is this?" So I pushed the box towards her and said "we get along pretty well. Wanna get married?" She didn't say anything at all. She just looked down at the ring with her mouth open. And I thought she was going to say 'no' or the dreaded 'I'll think about it.' And then she put the ring on her finger and fumbled around for my hand. Then we clasped hands and just kind of stared at each other dopily for a few minutes before deciding that we would have to talk about this later when there were less people around.
We've decided on a long engagement, for obvious reasons. And she brought this up:
"Well, the first day we met, we were dressed as pirates for Pirate Day. And our first official date was at Cheeseburger in Paradise... which is island themed. And you proposed at a Red Lobster. If our wedding isn't pirate-themed, then the gods are going to punish us."
We're thinking about hopping across the border to Canada for the ceremony and then sticking around BC for our honeymoon.

That's so awesome Hyena! If PA ever got around to legalizing gay marriage I'd say you should come to our GIANT ren fair and get married there on pirate weekend (cause they do ceremonies and such) I'd even volunteer to hand-fast you if you wanted (and if I could get ordained by then, cause I'm thinking about it :-p) but, sadly, pa is equally repressed, or possibly oppressive. Also, I think it's fine that you're failing your online communities now, I mean you did just have a major life event of awesomefulness today :-)
Cuppy, that does suck hun

I think getting married at a ren faire would be a little over-the-top for her. She wants a /lightly/ pirate themed wedding in that she gets to wear a floofy dress and the cake is vaguely nautical. So we want a mix of pirate + class. xD
We're actually considering getting our friend Sam to do the ceremony. She's in the final stages of getting her priestesshood.

I've had some time to cool down and Liz is asleep. If anything, it'll make it ten times easier for Martin to act all lovey-dovey. xDD
Though, I could chill out by getting the next print chapter ready. I think I'll do that just so I don't go overboard.

You do whatever you think is best :-) But if you aren't feeling the rp tonight, just lemmy know. I have to get ready for a gaming session (cause I'm a BIG RP DORK in real life too, and I'm currently running a cthulucentric w.o.d. chronicle) so I'll probably go work on some floor plans for the mansion I'm about to drag them through thursday :-p I'm fine with either though :-D

Laaaaate post. Jason kept talking to me about engagement stuff. So that's why it took so long.
Liv: needless to say, I'm having probably the BEST day of my life.
Joel is super-mad at me for proposing, though. Like... KING OF PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE mad. Its kind of fun. =D

OMG it was just about the bravest thing I've ever done. I don't normally take the initiative and just wait for the other person to make the first move. So this was REALLY coming out of my shell.
TOTALLY WORTH IT.

 I'm happy for you hun! My brother had been planning on proposing to his boyfriend before the accident. He couldn't keep anything secret from me.
It was actually pretty funny because I didn't even conciser that I was pregnant - I just thought that I was sick with a flu bug that had been going around work (I used to work at a daycare and colds and flu bugs travel around a lot with the kids - it wouldn't have been the first time that I've gotten sick because of where I worked), and my husband for some strange reason suddenly put everything together and ran out of the apartment at 11:40 at night to go to the nearest drugstore to grab as many pregnancy tests as he could get his hands on. I didn't realize what he was up to till he ran back in 25 minutes later. *laughs*

Wait till you have you're little one :-) There is nothing in the world like the first time you hear their little whimpers and see those little arms reaching for you for the first time. Everything else slips away, and all the sudden all there is, all that matters, is that beautiful little face wrapped up in your arms.

Liv, that's adorable. Your hubby must have been either REALLY excited or REALLY worried. xDD
I love seeing people's reactions to it. There's about a TON of "HA! I KNEW IT!" But I'm really enjoying Joel's passive-aggressive fuming. Its like the icing on a REALLY BIG CAKE. He's gone from 'playing nice' to 'straight up not talking to me.' YES! xDD
You two talking about kids is activating hormones that I don't want activated... No, ovaries. NO! No buns in the oven until I can afford to buy the bakery.

Why is he so mad about it? What was he secretly in love with one of you? Or does he just not want anyone else to be happier than him? lol Kudo's on the putting him in his place in addition to everything else though! :-D (formulating a reply to the rp)

Edit
WHOAH! HYENA! No Joke... I just Checked in someone named Leonard Gerritson.
I just think it's kinda amusing. Had to tell you.

BlackSwan: Oh, I can't wait. I really can't. I have fallen so in love with the kids that I used to take care of at work, I can't even imagine - I'm already so in love with Little One.
Hyena: Oh, he was super excited - but nervous at the same time - both of us were.
As for our engagement, most thought that we were insane. We had only known each other for 6 months when we got engaged. But it just totally felt right to us both - but we took 2 years to get married. *laughs* Got engaged Oct of 2007 and didn't get married till Oct of 2009. My family actually thought that I was preggers when we got engaged, but really with everything that happened to me before I met Alex, Alex got me back on my feet after everything and I really couldn't imagine being without him. But I remember those reactions. *laughs* Most of the time, they just totally made me laugh.
Sorry, I didn't mean to help to activate anything that you don't want activated, but I totally know what you mean by not wanting kids till everything is settled and all that.

xDDDD
Leonard Gerritson. Oh god that's hilarious. Now if only his name was Leonard Wight. Or Garrett Erland. Ooooh fuuuun. xDD
Okay, so here's me attempting to see it from his 19-year-old self-centered perspective:
"What a two-faced bitch. First she tells me she can't afford to pay for my groceries and then she goes out an buys an engagement ring for her fucking girlfriend that probably cost half her paycheck. No wonder she can't afford groceries for the six of us: she's spending all her money on stupid unimportant shit like that instead of things like food and rent. And what does Liz ever do for us? She doesn't even LOOK for a job. Why doesn't she kick HER out instead of me? This is unfair. This is UNFAIR! Me and Wil have been through more than those two have and what do WE get for it: nothing. We get nearly kicked out of the house. Bullshit. I call bullshit. When my lease is up, I am SO out of here."
This is based on several observations I've made about him, and is entirely theoretical. So he never said any of it. But he has some very severe tells.
Good luck finding a place that will let him live there with his credit and his pit bull, that's all I have to say. xDD
That's adorable. I can sort of see why they might think you were preggers, but I'm sure those allegations died down when the two years passed. We're talking about a long-term engagement: possibly three years. That will give us time to get some money, find a place to live that recognizes our union, and give the family time to get used to the idea of having two brides. xD
