She blushed softly and let her head lay on his. She closed her eyes. "No need..." she said soflty. "I'm the one who should be thanking you." she told him. "If you hadn't been there, I wouldn't be here." she murmured against his head. She lifted one hand and slowly ran it though his hair, playing with it softly as they sat there together.

"You know something, I never asked your name. How terribly rude you must think I am,"he grinned and just sat there. the whole world could have ended right then, the universe come crashing down, and he wouldn't have cared. He could feel the heat from her blood rushing through her face, but he wasn't even tempted.

Lillianna blushed deeper and laughed gently. "It's Lillianna." she replied softly. "And your name?" she asked, grinning back at him. She did not feel as though she was in danger with him, but she could feel an outside danger coming on. Though she didn't know when it would show itself.

"Lilliana......., that is a wonderful name," he let the name sink in. "I must apologize but I have forgotten my human name, I call myself Lament now." he smiled at her. "If I may say, you might be more comfortable on your chair." He stood up and picked her up with him, holding her like a bride. He walked across the room and sat down on the couch, not wanting this moment to end. In one hundred years, only this woman had made him feel alive. She did not judge him, only listened. She has succeeded where so many others, men, women, and even his own kind had failed.

Lillianna blushed and smiled, holding around his neck gently as he carried her to the couch. "So what happens now Lament?" she asked, still in his arms as he sat down. "I mean, do you dissapear into the night and I never see you again? Are you going to get in trouble for telling me?" she then asked, frowning slightly.

"That depends on you mostly. If it is your wish for me to leave, I will do so." he still held her on the couch as he made a pouty face. "But, I fear by allowing you to live and then telling you what I am will only make your life so much harder. The only hope is that when the sun rises no one will have seen the body and all that will be left is ashes." his face grew more grim as he realized the truth in what he was saying.

Lillie shook her head and moved closer to him. "No I don't want you do leave, what if they come after me?" she asked, getting fearful. "What happens if they find out?" she asked, looking up at him. Her eyes were big and curious.

He looked into her eyes, he could swear that he almost could see her soul,"Then I will not leave you. If they come after you I will fight them. If they find out there will be a tribunal, a kind of inquisition for our kind." He leaned in closer, and once more pushed her hair from out of her face. "I will not let them take you, ever."

Lillianna blushed softly and continued to look up at him. "What if you aren't here though?" she asked softly. "What if they come and you aren't here?" she asked. "What will they do to me?" she asked.

"They might not ever come,"He said half heartedly knowing the truth,"But if your asking me to stay," he paused and lowered his eyes to hers, "It would be an honor and a privilege to do so." He smiled his best smile, trying to hide the pain in his heart. He had told this one everything, betrayed every secret that his kind possessed, for a few fleeting moments comfort. She was truly unique, and in this small little corner of the world. He had found a moment of happiness that some people search a lifetime for

Lillianna blushed even more as he leaned close to him. "I am..... asking you.." she told him softly. She knew she could never betray him, she owned him her life for saving her in the alley. She continued to look into his eyes, looking past them into his world.

"Then I will." he smiled, and he once again noticed that his hand had found its way to her hair. Stroking it, and brushing it back. He found himself fighting an unfamiliar urge. Something from his past, something faded and distant. He stared into her eyes like he was looking into a well.

Lillianna blinked softly and continued to stare into his eyes. Her's seemed to glitter gently, though there was hardly any light in the room. She found herself slightly leaning up, her eyes never leaving his. She felt calm as he stroked her hair.

"You must be tired from your ordeal this night. Maybe you should rest, for when daylight comes I will be powerless and weak. My kind has a saying, the nights belong to us, the days to the food. Not that I would think of you as food, I mean........I......."he kept stammering over his last words. His tongue kept getting twisted causing him to stutter like some school boy in Sunday school. But his smile endured.

Lillianna laughed softly. "Alright." she said softly, getting up. "Are you going to stay with me?" she asked, wondering if he was just going to sleep in her room or in here on the couch.

"Well I could take you to my home, but I doubt that you would enjoy the bats."He dared to laugh,"Do you have a closet or something that I could hang upside down from?" his face went serious if but only for a moment

Lillianna bit her lower lip for a second. "Well I think the closet in the hall would work...." she said softly, completely confused. She always thought that vampires used to sleep in coffins or not at all.

"You seemed confused, did I say something wrong?" unsure if his brand of humor was out of date. He looked to her, still holding onto her. "Do you know what time it is?" he said nerves failing, trying to change the subject of the conversation.

Lillianna shook her head, finally getting that he was joking with her. "It's uh midnight." she replied softly, looking at a nearby clock. "Why?" she asked, looking back into his eyes once more. It was true, she was getting tired and looking at the time did not help

"I was merely wondering how much time I had left with you." He once more stood up taking her with him. Again he carried her like a new bride, down the hall to her room. He took notice that she had not looked away from his eyes. He could not help but smile at that, when just an hour or so before he had done the same to her. With one arm he held her, the other he used to draw back her sheets. He laid her down, and held the covers up for her.

Lillianna couldn't help but laugh at this gesture. "I can't help but feel like a child right now." she said, getting under the covers. "But I don't wanna go to bed right now." she pouted in a childs voice as she looked up at him, her eyes big and pouty with her lip stuck out.

"A child, you are anything but a child." he laughed back,"So I suppose you are right, and this is your house. Is there something that you wish to do instead." His face mocking a stern adult, but no matter how he tried he couldn't hold in the laughter. He stood with his hands on his hips laughing. Her eyes were so deep, and penetrating the place where his soul should be. He couldn't help but feel alive being around her.

Lillianna laughed and pulled him to sit with her on her bed. "I don't know." she replied. "I'm just not..." she yawned. "Sleepy..." she finished quietly. She had him sit against her pillows next to her and she curled up against him, her arms around his waist as she tuggged him close to her.

He chuckled out loud his arms around her. "You know I knew someone at one time who used to tell me stories from a book of his, I do not recall everything that was in it just bits and pieces. Something about a lion laying down with the lambs." he looked at her beautiful in her own immortality,"But don't you worry, no one else would dare call you a lion while I am around." He began to stroke her hair, even once let his thumb brush her cheek.

Lillianna laughed softly. "I think you have it backwards." she said, closing her eyes as he stroked her cheek. "I would be the lamb... and you would be the lion." she told him. "Lions are supposed to be the killers of lambs..... vampires kill humans..... except for you to me." she told him sleepily.
