I agree, Though I was lucky to have Jem dolls mostly instead of Barbies.

I like those dolls but I don't like them at the same time. The only reason I don't like them is because my little cousin got one and she she said:

"Wow can I get that skinny and look pretty?" I told her that a human cannot get that skinny and be healthy at the same time and she said "Well I guess I don't have to be healthy. I just want to be pretty so boys can like me. " Then I shook my head. She then told her mother that she was going to "not eat" until she is that skinny. -__-

I mean, they are pretty and all but to kids her age they think that is how they are supposed to look . I know it isn't all children but still. It is the same way with Barbies when I was little.

I still like the dolls though. I even have one but that one situation with my cousin makes me wonder...

I have a friend that collects them and she talks about them all the time!

I love ball jointed dolls more though. The ones you can customize. I just never have enough money for one.

Hmm yeah, they are very thin with large heads...maybe the toy company is in league with the grey aliens and they're putting these dolls out to get the younger generations ready for a new wave of hybrids.

If I was still a kid I would be alllll about them.
But I feel strange being 20 years old and wanting to buy kids dolls. When I expressed the interest in the monster high dolls my boyfriend gave me a disgusted look so I haven't really thought about it again.

Awh, DaisyKeehl: :( I hope your cousin snaps out of it. When I was little, I had Barbies by the ton. I never thought that women were supposed to look like that, though. My mother and both of my grandmothers reminded me and my sisters often that we were fine the way we were and that you can't paint a rose.

But I feel you. It's a growing problem. Little girls have to understand that being thin isn't what makes you pretty.

I'd say, monstahh`: , if you want one, you should go get one. I felt a little weird at first, too, I will admit. When I bought them, I would say 'It's my sister's birthday' or that I was buying it for a neighbor's kid. After a while, I just didn't say anything. Then after a while, when someone would ask about them, I'd say 'Yeah, I collect them' My boyfriend is really supportive. Mainly because he collects video games. He's spend hundreds of dollars on them, so he can't really say anything when it comes to what I want to collect. He even helps me find them.

Besides, it's not like I play with them lol I take them out of the box, give their hair a little fluff and stick them on my shelf.

I even struggle with that problem. It is a pain since she is way younger than me too! Shes 7 and I am 15. Squidie64:

Sometimes, I'll catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror or I'll think about it when I'm shopping and can't find my size. I have an hour glass figure. It's been much less hour glassy in recent months >_>; But I have a large chest, a smaller waist, and wider hips. It makes buying clothes a nightmare. Sometimes, I'll look at myself and think that I 'shouldn't look like this' because the women society thinks are pretty, don't look like this. But then I remind myself that a: I won't change. It's the shape of my body. Whether I lost weight or not, I can't change the shape of my body. And b: Who are they to decide what's pretty and what's not?

It's just one of those daily battles we women go through. We shouldn't have to, but..we do :\

I think it's alot more to do with the image these kids programs and movies with people in how it's they always look perfect espcially with Disney wanting all it's actors and actresses to have the squeeky clean image. Very much more than the dolls espically when you see the Bratz movie that came from the dolls.

It's really bad what that kids are seeing this stuff and then comparing themselves to their dolls, even if you are naturally skinny the only way to get a waist like the dolls have it months of waist training.

BAH! Don't be ashamed :D Lol I watch two people on deviantArt who customize and make clothes for their Monster High dolls. I want to customize one, too, but I want to find a cheap one somewhere. I don't really want to buy one for full price and more or less destroy it, ya know?

Want the links to the galleries? :)

Yeah I do.
I have the Monster High Classrooms Draculaura Doll, Monster High Clawdeen Wolf 2011 Doll and Monster High Frankie Stein 2011 Doll.

For Draculaura, I made her hair all Goth, got rid of the earrings, cut that ridiculous white mesh from her pull-up stockings, and made them look messy. I couldn't find the proper doll so I just changed this one to suit my tastes. :3

For Clawdeen, I didn't want to change much, because she is amazing, though I made her hair poofy and in a side-ponytail with her fringe going to the opposite side, cut the stupid dangly bit off of her earrings and got rid of her belt.

For Frankie Stein, I bought this skirt from etsy: Etsy Transaction - Monster High doll clothes - blue pleated skirt, put the skirt over the button-up shirt, got rid of the belt thing and got rid of those horrible two-toned tights. I also messed with her hair and made it look slightly messy, like she's really Frankenstein. :p

----------

EDIT: Squidie64: you can go on eBay and purchase doll-only packs from sellers. I forgot what they called them exactly, but just look up "Monster high naked doll only" and maybe something will come up. I came across a few when I was looking for the show-accurate Draculara outfit on its own.
...and yes, I have a deathwish. P:

To be honest, I've never seen one in real life xD

I've seen scattered commercials for them and stuff, but no one ever talks about them where I live.

I get paid today, so I was thinking about getting one if our Walmart has any lol Dunno which one, though. The store near me has been sold out for a while now. Probably from Easter, but they didn't even have basic dolls when I was there last time. Hopefully I can get one lol

Thank you. It shouldn't be to difficult to customize a doll to look like her... It's just starting it that makes me nervous. XD

I have a Frankie, Ghoulia, and Draculara. My friend has a bunch more that she did complete face repaints on. She's all about the Japanese demons, so that's what she made them into, heh. Mine are just dust collectors, haha.
