I've not read or seen Stardust, but I'd love to pick up the book from the library!
I actually read Howl's Moving Castle because I wanted to see the movie, and now won't watch the movie. I have seen enough to know that it is not nearly good enough to compare to the book in my own opinion, so I've avoided watching more of it. >>;

Iltu: Stardust is pretty good. Short and sweet. (Though, I will say, at first it's kinda hard to like the "star." But, I think it's kinda the point. ^_^) I have not seen the movie.
And, I have not read Howl's Moving Castle, though I did see the movie (in the theater -- subbed), and you shouldn't completely discount it. It has a great soundtrack! Makes me want to float away on a waltz! ^_^

@Iltu: I kind of agree with you on that. Movies based on books are usually more awesome if you see the movie first, then read the book. Because the book is almost always better, and doing it the other way around is sure to end in disappointment.
@Reeny: Yes! The soundtrack is amazing. ^^ In general, I'm just a big Miyazaki fan.

. . .
I feel the need to let everyone know that someone has written book about killer unicorns.
Quote:
Real unicorns are venomous, man-eating monsters with huge fangs and razor-sharp horns. Fortunately, they've been extinct for a hundred and fifty years. - From Rampant (Killer Unicorns, #1) by Diana Peterfreund

This just brought about my childhood fantasies (yes I dreamed that not only were unicorns real, they were vicious).
Okay. Apologies I just had to tell someone that I found this.

I think this is a great idea. I am usually a book worm, but lately have seriously slacked off. Currently, I'm working my way through Stronghold by Melanie Rawn. It is the first book of the second trilogy of the series (sounds a little confusing, I know :p). I have read it before, but it's been close to eight years since then.
@Dream_and_die: I'm going to have to check that book out! There was a book that I read years ago that discussed the whole history of the unicorn myth, theories on how the image came about, why maidens were so important to it, how the idea managed to survive, etc. It was a wonderful book, but I can't remember the name or the author. I remember the cover, but that doesn't help much. :p

I AM ON TEAM UNICORN.
I read a book once, called Poison, and unicorns were only mentioned once, but that mention was something to the effect of, "You can't believe everything you hear. Except about unicorns, they'll eat your guts as soon as look at you." It made me laugh.
I grew up thinking unicorns were nice, lovely, and very real creatures, but I've written stories with them being pure, kind, creatures, vicious creatures, creatures that vary in personality from unicorn to unicorn, and as garden pests. :P I love playing with them in writing.

See I always grew up thinking that there was no way a creature that practically has a sword on it's head, doesn't get into some kind of deadly mischief. :3 Then again I was read the original faerie tales and children's stories.
I adore Zombies, but Unicorns are deadly awesome. Sooo Team Unicorn!! xD That and I <3 three authors on Team Unicorn, only two on Team Zombie. ^_^

Dream- I love the idea of fighting zombies more than I love zombies, but I just love unicorns in general. And if Garth Nix is on team unicorn, that is enough for me! Though I do love Holly Black an awful lot as well.

@Iltu: Holly Black, Garth Nix, Naomi Novik, Diana Peterfreund - she wrote the deadly unicorn book I was talking about! Though Scott Westerfeld was making it hard. I'm in love with his newest book and he actually responded to a twitter post I made about him. XD

Well, i've deleted my list and started again today.
I only do a 25 book challenge for myself, as i don't always have free time, usually reading about 100 pages a day, if i don't have assignments to do that is, so it seems a decent challenge.
Last year i stopped reading in October, as i was stuck on a not so exciting book in a series, and i had too much work to do at college.
my haitus will end as soon as i get in bed tonight, i has decided! xDD
I don't see why i can't read for an hour before i sleep every night, so here go's!
First book i'll be reading is the one i stopped on last october, kings bucaneer by Raymond E feist, but i'll start from the beginning, even if it is slightly boring, i need to refresh my mind xDD
Whats everybody else reading at the moment?

Dream- I have three books by Naomi Novik on my shelf, I still really need to read them. XD And I want that book about evil unicorns by Diana Peterfreund! That sounds wodnerful.
Kibz- Good luck with your challenge!
I'm in the middle of reading Macbeth for school, and The Once and Future King and a book of classic Russian fairytales for fun. XD I already read Macbeth one my own sometime last year, but it's such a pleasure to read again!
