I already renewed them... it's that I work, go to school and have a 3 year old. On top of that we've been going to doctors appointments a lot more and have been moving... so I really just don't have any time. It's a nightmare.

Yeah, the HP fandom was probably the first big fandom phenomenon since Star Trek -- and to my knowledge, it was the first to take advantage of the internet. I remember reading fanfic on my dad's old computer, still running Win NT, I think, back in 1999. As such, and because the books were so widely published and translated, the fandom was/is worldwide and attracted a wide spectrum from society.

Plus, Sirius/Lupin and Harry/Draco were far too tempting!!

Most yaoi fanfics I've found are just....well..wrong. I've got a friend who's writing a Death Note fic that's got some yaoi in it, and it's very well written. I guess it's just part of me that says I won't read yaoi unless it's well written.

hehe i don't think i blame you any at all. a well written one is better than one that was just thrown together and you can tell it was even if i do prefer some originals like what my boyfriend is writing.

Originaly stories are better, I agree...as long as they don't suck. But reading about you're favorite characters in a new setting is pretty fun.

Yes -- it both amuses and saddens me to read bad slash/yaoi/yuri. Young authors get tititllated writing boy/boy or girl/girl, but never think about, well, the "plumbing." Or, more often, they don't consider the fact that in the real world, and in many of the fan worlds, gays and lesbians are stigmatized. As a bi who still hasn't really come out to her RL friends (partly because I'm already married), I can kind of understand the fear, and I've read very few fanfics which address the social issue of yaoi/yuri/slash.

*climbs down from soap-box*

I've got nothing against homosexuality. If I married a guy and he told me he was bi, I'd just say "so?"
I've even got some RL friends who're bi. No problems here! Still love 'em like sisters...even if stupid DCFS ripped one away from us!

Yeah, for me it's more like -- well, so I'm bi, but I'm married, and so what good does it do to make a point of it? And more than 50% of my department is gay or lesbian or bisexual (and we have one gender-changed person, who began the program female but is now male), and that includes the professors.

So? I've got no problems with it.

But I'm still mad at DCFS!

*shrugs* I don't really have a problem with it, either -- I'm just saying that in my current situation, I can understand the difficulty of coming out better than I could as a 13-year-old who thought she was straight.

But with libraries, at least you know that the books will still be there when you have time to read them again. It isn't as if they'll disappear forever after the due date.

@ Knerd

I was looking at the list of users, who have been added to the challenge. I saw that my name wasn't on there, if it wouldn't be too much trouble could you add my name as well?
