Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. =D Should I put that down for his power, though? And should it only be partial paralysis, or for a limited period of time? Also, should it be when he hits them with the crop?

I think it's making it hard because all they have are paralysis and a shield that only works at certain times and both only work for so long - it's not like it's permanent things~
I think it we have more than 1, at the most 2 each, it's making it easier and easier for them to go through the labyrinth - i mean, as it is now - there are so many things we can do where both tools may not help them and they have to depend on each other to get out - like, say they fall into an ever changing oubliette or something :3

Well, yeah, that's the point of the Labyrinth, isn't it? Rely on your wits, think outside the box, etc. And wouldn't we want them relying on each other? That way they have to work together and all; there's opportunity to get to know each other, bond, etc. We've already given them handicaps--if we make it too easy, where's the draw to read, to find out how they're doing and all?

I said that they needed to rely on each other - and if we have it the way we do now, we can have them get into all sorts of trouble without them being able to rely on the items since they don't work for very long and they have such limited use that they must be weary of how willy nilly they use them :3

How's Jareth going to deal with the Nai'Callait? He's got the paralysis, but... Is he going to try and reason with it or whatever?

I think Jareth would try and reason with it - try and make it see it's error - I mean, they lived in peace for so long - why is it suddenly becoming so greedy and such? I think Jareth would be confused and would kind of make him be like "Nai, my old friend, have you gone insane?!?!" xD;

I thought it was more like Jareth had been keeping the Nai'Callait out of the Labyrinth with his magic. We could go the "old friend going insane route" too, though.

Hmm... If we go that way, then it could be like Nai'Callait feeds off of despair, and Jareth LET him live around the outskirts of the Labyrinth to feed off the despair of the failing Runners. And then when the Nai'Callait caught Jareth's despair, the mixture of that with Jareth's powerful magic was too much for it and it went insane and that's when it started taking the Labyrinth out of time?

Or we could stick with it being kept out by force all along.

Well, the old friend thing was just thrown in there to make a point - doesn't have to go that way xD;
But even if we went your route - they'd still have been living in a harmony of sorts so it'd be the same basic idea :3

I kind of think the way I put it gives Nai' Callait a more intelligent and "innocent" roll, you know?
Like, it wasn't it's fault it became like this - it sort of unconsciously took his despair and depression - but then it became insane and greedy and started destroying everything :3

Yeah. It could cast Jareth in a more sympathetic light too? So that Sarah can be all, "Oh, hey, he's not a complete jerk after all, he was nice to the Nai'Callait."

So what happens when they can't reason with it?

Jareth gets frustrated, tries to paralyze it until he can figure out what to do, realizes it won't work, then Sarah throws herself in front of Jareth when Nai' Callait attacks and saves them with the last of her shield? Then the love and shock confuse and disorient Nai', then they run back to the castle and the labyrinth falls apart behind them - their only refuge the Throne Room and the ball within as they spend their last moments dancing to the band playing Jareth's song, though he doesn't sing due to not knowing the words.

Hmm... If the Labyrinth's falling apart because of the Nai'Callait, then Jareth won't care about State affairs and ceremony and stuff. There's got to be a better reason for having the ball. Can we think of one?

Rheila was having the ball to try and bring back Jareth's memories?
It was their last and final attempt to recreate Sarah's dream sequence and try and make him remember her and his love for her so Nai' would be defeated - that's when he has his "I'll never forget you -Sarah kisses him-" moment :3

Yeah, but they couldn't have him know that was the reason. If he knew then it wouldn't be unforced love, right? He'd be all, "I HAVE to try to love her for the Labyrinth to be saved," and that wouldn't be natural love.

Perhaps they tell Jareth that if they try and have a good time, it will negate the effects of what Nai' feeds off of, and make him weak so the Labyrinth doesn't become destroyed until they find a way to get his magic restored?
So it's kind of true, but not really?

Maybe we should just ditch the "cover up" thing and just have them use the ballroom as the last sanctuary because after they had to run from the Nai'Callait, it got stronger when Jareth realized it couldn't be reasoned with, and thus he became sadder and started blaming himself?

And then maybe while everyone's sheltering in there, Sarah\Jareth could say to Jareth\Sarah: "Come on; let's have a last dance... Make one last happy memory. Maybe we'll be able to reach Nai'Callait if we forget everything but each other for a while."

It could be like saying, "I'm happy when I'm with you." It could be a concealed confession of love or something! *Mai squeals like a fangirl*

Okay, so we agree on that? But we have to figure out who's going to be instigating the dance.

Maybe Rheila could be the one to suggest it? Maybe she could be all, "Hey, you know, you only live once... This could be the one time," and all?

Perhaps she could dance with her consort, and Jareth could be all like, "Why don't we all dance? Ms. Williams, will you do me the honor?"

Okay, now that we've got that down... What next?

Figure out how Sarah starts to fall in love with Jareth now that he’s not being a manipulative jerk to her, throwing death machines and snakes and hallucinogenic peaches at her and whatnot.

Hmm - that's a toughie - that's why we've been procrastinating that one xD;

We've got:

--Shield by touch
--Nai'Callait

Maybe Sarah would be all, "Look, we've never exactly gotten off on the right foot, and now we've got to travel the Labyrinth together. We should at least talk to each other, try to get to know each other better?"

And then Jareth could be all, "You broke my heart, you meanie-head." But then that could go away when he forgets her, and then she'd REALLY be starting over. Right? Any ideas on your end?

And then she can be like "Oh! Fine then! Forget me if you want, see if I care!" Then as he forgets her more and more, she's just like "Okay, enough of this you jerk! I'm just starting to like you! How can you forget me?! YOU'RE AN IDIOT!"
Then the more he forgets her, the more he opens in up in trying to get to know his strange traveling companion, and so the more they travel, the more they talk, and the more she falls in love with him as she realizes she doesn't really want him to forget her :3
