Excuse the intrusion, guys. But I'd like to politely request that the inappropriate language be removed from the thread title. Minimal swearing is ok when it's unavoidable, but a thread title full of it is unnecessary and offensive.

I'll PM Cricket. He's out of town right now.
Sae - I'm sorry. I keep thinking I've told everyone about that. She's 11 and was 7 when he died - so I am doubly in charge of her safe-keeping!

Actually, I'm back. And I would like to counter this with the fact that there is a thread in the literacy forum with 'fuck' in its title, and I'm very much sure that I've seen other threads with cursing of 'bastard, bitch', and probably even 'fuck' before. Also, it's a quote from the show Scrubs.
People are allowed to have usernames with swearing in them, why can't someone have a thread title with swearing in it? Because if a user with an offensive name makes a thread, you see the word(s) right under the thread title and that can't be changed unless the user gets a name change.
So I would like to request that people with offensive usernames change their names, or not be allowed to make threads because it's the exact same concept. And that other people with cussing in their thread titles be requested to change them.
As far as I know, it doesn't break the ToS at all, just like having cussing or disgusting/offensive words in a username doesn't break the ToS. Though I have been offline since Friday, and for all I know there could be a new ToS.
I will be checking the announcements shortly for anything I might've missed.

It can be edited now because the assassin game account is currently logged in. Alternatively I can do it myself.
EDIT: If I personally see a thread with swearing in the title then I will request for it to be changed. But I cannot be everywhere and do not see every thread title, report them if you see them, don't just complain when asked to change your own.
We do our best to prevent people from having offensive usernames, there's a big list of disallowed words, but people get around them by using spaces and so on. We do make people change then sometimes if they are genuinely offensive. Though the ones you've complained about before were not so. I honestly find it somewhat hypocritical of you that you complain about names like J l Z Z then cuss repeatedly in a thread title, regardless of whether it's a TV quote or not. It's still bad language that's right in the face of every single person who sets foot into this forum and is unnecessary.

I did respond. I would like my post to be read and what I said considered. If you still wish for me to change it, I will. But my point is completely valid. You want the thread name appropriate and unoffensive, and I would like the same of people's usernames.

*pokes out her head* Wow, battle of the big dogs... I wonder if anyone complained about your title, Cricket? Then would it be valid for you to change it?
Anyway... is it safe to have casual conversations in here again? :ninja: I don't feel like I know enough about the rules on swearing to make any points anywhere.

Here again for a short time. Today has been rather fun. The hubby and I went shopping and found nice little things, such as To Wong Foo, an amusing movie with Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes as drag queens. Also found a Sarah McLachlan cd we didn't already own, and the original World of Warcraft computer game, Humans and Orcs, I think it's called. He was excited to see if it would run on his computer. And we found a replacement VCR, but it has the same problem as our current one: it doesn't always rewind when we stop the tape to rewind it. We might go back and get the tape rewinding machine sometime later this week. It was gorgeous today; the weather was so beautiful! Okay, so I've ranted enough. How was everyone else's day? Anyone do anything fun? I know Elmira just got back from a convention and it sounds like Cricket was at something similar. And Sae mentioned something about a church event. Sounds like everyone has been busy this weekend!
Edit: Sae, I think moving right back to casual conversation would be best. Any further discussions about the title of the thread will most likely be moved to a pm if it persists to be a problem. No need to further clutter the thread with disagreements. The issue has been declared; they'll figure it out on their own, I imagine.

Not really, as I've complained about people's usernames and absolutely nothing was done about those.
It may be hypocritical of me to put cusswords in a thread title after complaining about people's usernames, but I think it's hypocritical of the staff to ask me to change a thread title when they didn't do anything about the offensive names.
Also, if there's one thread title by a user that's offensive, it's only one title. Whereas if the user has an offensive username, their name is underneath every single thread they ever make. So you see it everywhere in every forum that they post in. Whereas the offensive thread title will only be in the forum that the thread was made in.
Kierys: Cricket was at an anime convention starting on Friday. Fucking amazing, though I didn't take a lot of pictures or videos like I normally would. I dunno, I just really didn't feel like it this time.

I have never been to an anime convention, so it must have been an amazing experience. ^-^ Were there a lot of cosplayers there too? I don't know, I hear people like to dress up like their favorite characters, which sounds like all kinds of fun to me. I hope you had a really good time.

It seemed that there were quite a few people who cosplayed. I saw some familiar hats that were from Gaia as well. CK and Omi had a table with artwork and some mini top hats, and it seemed like there was quite a variety of commercial and original artwork on display there. It was much smaller than I'd imagine a SciFi/fantasy con would be - but there were a lot of people there who seemed just plain thrilled to have a chance to show off their stuff. I grew up going to Renaissance festivals, so I'm used to being around people in a variety of costumes. Mark kept trying to compare it all to KISS concerts - not the same thing. There were a few people dressed in steampunk gear, and that was also interesting to see in person. Until today, I'd only seen photos.

I can't wait to go to one myself; they sound like so much fun! I would go mad with a camera, taking pictures and videos. I've only been to a Ren Fest once as well, so that was all kinds of fun for me. I got to dress up for that, but not as well as I would have liked. I still need to work on my costume wardrobe. I was hoping to get a corset or an outfit while I was up there, but everything is sooo expensive! O.O Still, I am bound and determined to come back with one of those lovely corsets I saw!

My family has been involved with faires for over twenty years now - been through a lot of costumes! My moms new obsession seems to be a very tiny Victorian-era event that takes place about thirty minutes from their house. Basically, my parents have costumes that are representative of the mid 1500's and the late 1800s, but are mostly English and Irish. If more of my mom's family came from Scotland, I'd expect to see a lot more plaid. Part of me is quite happy that they didn't get involved in cons, otherwise, I'd be seeing a lot of Klingon stuff all over their house!

Well, our kitchen is finished and they are working on the rest of the store. It's getting all kinds of nice upgrades. I worked foods last night, which wasn't so bad except at the beginning when our boss lady kept telling me, "You need this, you need that, customers are waiting" and I'm thinking like, 'I KNOW, shut up woman and let me do my job! It's not going to get done any faster with you nagging me. You're just distracting me from my work, so go away!' Of course, I can't -say- that, because she's Miss District Manager and it would look bad on my store leader, and I don't want to get my store leader in trouble because of me. Even if she would agree. Nobody likes our DM. She's an evil lady, I swear.

I think some people really never should be put in a position of power, particularly when they tend to have a low opinion of people who work for or with them. It is unfortunate, but there are a lot of people who abuse the power they have - mainly because they have so little of it elsewhere. I hope the upgrades are finished soon - will she be out of your hair when everything is finished with the kitchen, or is she based out of your store?

Well, Cricket has gone because he's just kinda starting to lose interest in Menewsha. That, and he's been babysitting two girls, and watching anime with his boyfriend creature.

How's the babysitting going? Are these new movies or some you've seen already.
I think it's natural for people to grow tired of things after a while.

Elmira: Well, I think when things are done, construction wise, then she'll not be hanging around so much. She kinda patrols all the stores in her district, so we see her from time to time, but not terribly often. Thank goodness.
Cricket: Sorry to hear Mene is losing your interest, Cricky. I hope you come visit us from time to time though, if you decide to leave. And if you don't decide to leave, then yay! ^-^ Babysitting can be time consuming, especially if they are really young girls. My niece was a handful. She still is, but I don't see her as much anymore.
I imagine I'll have my hands full with the second one. Brooke is due to pop out April 20th, I think. My sister's baby shower is on the 22nd of this month. -That- should be interesting. I've only been to one baby shower, and that was when I was really young.
Elmira: Yeah, I lose interest in things for a bit, but I always end up coming back to them. My interest usually corresponds with my time on the internet too. It fluctuates. I'll eventually lose interest in Mene, but I don't doubt that I will come back to it. It's a nice place, unlike some of the other sites I've come from. The atmosphere here is really relaxed. At least, I think it is.

I know that once I go back to the floor at cosmetology school, I won't have as much time to spend here. I'll be gone four days a week and then have to contend with the kids and house. Now, I find myself here unwinding and trying to take as much of a break as I can because everything will change in a few weeks.
Compared to some of the other sites, this one is pretty well organized, friendly and relaxed. Plus, I love dressing my avatars.
