Wait. Real quick. On both sides of the outline or just the inside? I would assume on both sides... but just in case.

YES.

lol

Okay - NOOOOW is the time to add just a tiny tiny bit of shade on in there!

In addition - this is the time to edit. If there are places that look like there needs a bit more shading - slightly extend the shades starting with shade three then add the shade 4 in the place if necessary.

Do you understand?

good good good!!!!! You could probably extend the shade 3 just a tad in a couple places...just a pixel or two here or there. But SOOO MUCH BETTER :D

I would wait until we ask what xuvrette: says before making any more changes :D

GOOD JOB!! thank you for dealing with meeee <3

You were super duper helpful! *hugs* Thanks for going step by step with me. I think I see where I need to extend the shade 3. Gah. You and Shadami and xuvrette are the best. :3

Xuvvie got me started to be honest with you!! I never pixeled before Jnuary 2012....and I decided I wanted to try and she whipped my butt into shape!

But you are really coming along nicely!!! The best thing is to have people to help you and to look at already made items for reference on the shading and the shapes :D

Should I leave that entire side of the sleeve on shade six? @__@

Here's my 'finishing touches' where I tried to smooth out the right sleeve and applied my teachings to the left sleeve (which I hope I did properly...)

Wah, before fix.

Fixed a little bit mooore.

Have a good night's sleep!

I really don't handle compliments well but I'm learning. .__. haha. I pixeled a bit two summers ago, so it's not like I'm a total beginner, but thank you so much. <3 I really enjoy doing pixel work!

*claps* I am very impress with Mariaria's instruction of step by step.
XD I would get people confuse or worse, getting myself lost because I am so awful in English.
darkRed text is your pixel related comment, black text are my rant.

Actually, the earlier numbers, I am talking about the white colour's outline. XP Because that is the colour I can see clearly, and I assume you would use the same technique on them. Now you got Maria's workflow, (basically, very similar to how I approach it, just add a bit more time I use for useless tweaking as I would tweak hundred times and go back to the first attempt... x.x), try to apply it to the white colour outline.

By the way, I use Black and white and grey for shading. Light colour like yellow, magenta and cyan... is harder to see for me and on top of that Menewsha Palette is very inconsistent.
Each colour in the chart, the distance between the lightest and darkest value is different. You know Hue, Saturation, Light/darkness? Hue is the colour RGB CMYK, Saturation means how true is the colour, Light/darkness simply how light or dark the colour is.
Anyway, give a simple scale of 1 to 10, 10 being darkest.
Menewsha's red colour, the darkest red could be 9 and lightest colour could be 2. 7 shades jump.
Then the orange colour, darkest is 10 and lightest is 5. 5 shades jump.

There is a reason why the colour chart I made, the name of the colour I use the darkest and lightest to pixel the colour. To see the different contrast of lightest and darkest. Obviously, some seemed to blend in, and some stood out. For the one that is blend too much, I do not like it. Of course, there is no set rules about palette, but pixel is a work of meeny teeny details, it is definitely a digital art, and when it is digital, colour value/hex code can be controlled.

Personally, if I am making the whole collection of palette, all colours would be having the same shades value. This is good for recolours. How many colours you play around with recolours? Not every colour fit in the shading you done for one colour.

Sometimes, the mistake of one tiny pixel is not visible for normal size.
I won't care for pixel mistake if I am doing other art, but when come to pixel...:/ It just get into my skin.

Maria-Minamino: That looks pretty good to me. The only thing that jumps out is the left sleeve being very skinny/tight-fitting. I wonder if it would be worth widening that by just 1 pixel's width.

Xuvvie - I think that the rest of the shirt isn't as tight though - look at the body of the shirt in comparison to the avatar itself.

Also - there needs to be a male version of the shirt XD

lol. I have seen clothes like that, tight sleeve, but not so tight shirt.
Besides, it is two different fabric so they can have different tightness. *shruggs*

All of a sudden, I am not sure whether is it optical illusion... but. XD the two sleeves seems to have different lengths. Xp one seem to be subtle-ly longer than another.
