I feel like ranting about the mall because I work there. Specifically I work at Dairy Queen in the mall. There has been a steady stream of people coming to the mall for the past, oh I don't know, maybe two weeks. It's really annoying. I can't find a parking space anywhere half the time and sometimes I have to park really far away from the food court. This is a problem when I close because I have to walk all the way back to my truck outside the building (since it's locked from the inside). It's dangerous...they should make employee parking...

Anyone else work at the mall?

The mall is crazy during and after the holidays from all those sales and junk. I don't work at the mall, or work at all, not old enough yet. When I do start working though, I want to work at an ice cream place. :3 I feel sorry for you though.

I avoid the mall no matter what time of year, people are so rude there.

There should be employee parking, you shouldn't have to walk a long way after the mall closes, that is dangerous. I used to work for McDonald's and, all the closing employees had to walk out together, that's how it should be at all places. If you can't all park together then, someone should drive around the parking lot until everyone is in their cars and you should all leave together.

A few years ago my daughter worked at the mall. She lost her job after about a week because she couldn't find a place to park, so she was late and they fired her. They really do need some way to make sure employees have a place to park.

No, I don't but I hear you, and that really stinks.
I've SEEN how hard it is to find a spot during this the Winter ,mid-holiday, season.
You take shifts right?
Maybe a co-worker will hold you the spot they used, if you guys remain in contact.
And about leaving at night...I'd REALLY speak to one of the higher ups about that. It's a crazy world, with a lot of desperate people, that might take advantage of the situation. Until employee parking happens though...I'd suggest the buddy system?

The mall is INSANE this time around! I used to work at Victoria's Secret during the holiday season. An employee fainted due to the amount of work that needed to be done. Needless to say I quit after about a month. Rude customers are one thing but rude women who don't understand the meaning of courtesy is another >>

I was at the mall yesterday to get to the Apple store. My laptop has a broken graphic card and if we didn't go then it probably wouldn't ever have been done. We lucked out with a parking space at the very top of the parking tower, but the mall was packed. The Apple store was even MORE packed. So many people in that cramped little area. >_< I really feel for people who have to work in those place, especially around such a hectic time.

I avoid the mall but that's because I don't like seeing lots of people. ;-; I imagine it would be bad around holiday season...

I definitely try to avoid the mall this time of year. I don't go there often normally, but I have gone just to have fun with friends. Malls are expensive...

I try to aviod the mall around this time of year and the other crouded times of year. I get panic attacks when I get in a reallly crowded area. Oddly enough the smells and sounds and heat get to me more then the light and such. It's not the best way to shop. Yay internet!

I usually hitch a ride with someone whenever possible....but there are times when I have to walk. I would do the buddy system thing but we don't really have shifts that allow for it at Dairy Queen. The owner will sometimes be the one to drive me to my truck...so...he knows about the problem...but...he does nothing about it. I don't like him at all. He keeps the store open past closing time.

I almost never go to black friday either, I dislike crowds and lines. ><;;

Man, it sucks that there isn't employee parking. You should start a petition among those who work there, especially those who work late or get there when parking is hard to find. Have them set aside an area or two for employees.

I use to work at the mall down here and hated it during the Holidays. I drive a large car so finding parking was always a pain that and people (if it snowed enough to cover the roads) would park three in one parking space! Trying to get around inside and in the store I was working at was just as bad -_-"" So yeah...malls are such a pain.

@maidenroseheart:
That's a good idea. I guess the petition could be directed towards the owner of the mall? I don't really know who that is or how to get in contact with him or her....maybe the kiosk downstairs....Thanks for the idea!

I don't work at the mall, per se, but I spend enough time in it.
[ If that counts. ]

&Yes! My sister works at the Tim Hortons there; and I occasionally visit her...
To make her day more... interesting. [ or just to taunt her... I don't know. xD; ]
Anyhoo, The line-up the few days before Christmas was incredible. I felt bad for her.
I can only imagine what the poor Zellers cashiers had to go through! D:

That place is normally busy even on regular days of the week.
So... Christmas? Pssh...

Well i dont work at the mall exactly but i work with marketing and promotions at a casino and this year we decided to set up a kiosk in a super busy mall and guess who got chosen to work at the kiosk? Me >=C i didnt think it would be too bad and i would be getting alot more hours than they give me now... this horrid kiosk is going to close up on the 30th thank god, yea for the past 2 weeks it has been packed in here... it takes 20+ minutes just to park your car if your swing shift (again me) and then about 50% of the people that come up to my kiosk are asking for directions when theres one of those freakin directory signs just a foot away from me.... and then just trying to walk around in here was frustrating because i am a fast walker, now usually im used to walking through large crowds in the casino but theres so many places to dodge around through the machines that its easy but at the mall its one big hall and large groups of people like to take up the whole hallway and walk soooooo slow and they only leave a small gap to the side for people coming the opposite way ~_~ I am definently not going to do this again

Hmm. If you're worried about walking a fair distance in the dark and you can't find an escort, do what I do at school; talk to someone on the phone the whole way back. Call a friend just as you leave, and have them stay on the line with you, just chatting, until you reach your car. It still isn't as safe as having someone with you, but at least if anything happens to you, someone will be there to call for help.

Well, I don't work at the mall and I haven't been there for a while, but I went into GameStop yesterday and it was crazy. @.@ I was headed to the grocery store, which is in the same shopping center, and I'd gotten a GameStop gift card for Christmas, so I thought I might as well stop by and see if they had anything good. However, when I got inside, there was a line snaking around the entire store! O.o Random people were everywhere, and I couldn't look at any of the displays for the life of me. I left after a few minutes and decided to come back another day, but man was that annoying. >.> Why does everyone have to go out the day right after Christmas to do all of their exchanges and returns?

I don't work in the mall either, nor do I really spend much time there, which is why I didn't know (but really should have known) that the mall would be packed the weekend before Christmas. Traffic was horrible getting out of and going to the mall. I honestly don't know why ...

I hate going to the mall during holiday time. This time is worse than Black Friday is. And black friday is really bad. I try to avoid the mall during the Christmas season, but it's inevitable when the Wal-Mart by me doesn't have the item I want. Stupid Wal-Mart. Which is another place that's extremely busy during Christmas.

No but I do work at McDonald's and I can totally relate what with the holiday crowds and parking, especially we to do not get employee parking so its totally first come first serve in our lots. I get so tired of mean customers lately, ever since Christmas has ended everyone has been a real grouch/scrooge. :(
