The OOC Thread
Wikipedia
Background
"The tales of old have told us about the myths and legends that we now know as Greek Mythology. But were the Olympian Gods myths? Was Hercules, Orion, and Pandora really just legends? Many believe so, but I can't say I agree with them. I have done my fair share of research, and I believe that they did exist and still do to this day. But where? And why have they kept themselves secret for so long?
In my search for the truth, I discovered a piece of parchment that told of a man who claimed to have heard from the Moirae themselves. He went on and on about how they looked completely different from what he had ever had thought. Lachesis was supposedly beautiful and blonde, her bare skin glittered in the day and the night, her eyes were of fresh grass and her lips were the shade of delicious apples. He seemed to take a liking to her, because he only mentioned Clotho and Atropos a few times. Clotho was appearantly an old hag with a crow on her shoulder, while Atropos was a maiden cloaked and chained. I started to grow bored with his babbling, until almost the end when he finally told us what the Moirae chanted in unison.
When Man's Fire Grows
Brighter than that of the Gods,
Time will consume all of man's odds.
Olympus will live,
Speaking not a lie
Living among man
The Gods will thrive.
And here I am... Searching for the answers." - Wonders, Elizabeth. "Greek Rumors are True" Scientific Mysteries18 Aug. 2014: 52-53.
Genre: Modern Sci-Fi/ Alternate History/ Greek Mythology/ Romance/ Drama
Rating: PG-17
Story
The moon was riding high, as Nyx had just spread her arms to engulf the sky with her beauty, when a small wind brushed across the city of Olympus. The nightlife was thriving as teenagers drove to their favorite club or bar, while business men drove home or to their favorite late night fast food joint. Neon Lights flashed advertisements from inside and outside store fronts while LCD screens hung from the skyscrapers playing commercials for recent and hip products. Cosmetic lines, mortgage companies, the latest fashion all flashed along the streets and reflected off of puddles of fresh rain.
A few miles away there was a base that a small military group had set up about a year or two ago. Nobody knew what they did all of these months, but they received regular shipments of equipment without sending anything out. Rumors kicked up that it was another Area 51, but then the rumors ceased when a new gossip topic came up. People had started going missing at an alarming rate, only to wind up being found a month later, dead and on the side of the road. They gained the name as the Boatman Killings. There are now thrity-nine people who have wound up dead, without a single clue as to who killed them or where they went missing to.
The LCD Screens flashed all to the same news program in the middle of different commercials. A middle-aged woman, with stress lines at the corners of her eyes and mouth, held a set of papers in her thin hands. Her brown thin hair had been hairsprayed to a feathered look, while her face had been caked with make-up. Her nails were manicured with black spirals while a business like suit adorned her body. "We interrupt your program to bring you an unfortunate news broadcast. Police have just found the bodies of Catherine Rosell, Jenny Darking, and Tabatha Smith." Three scenes flashed on the screen with a fifteen minute delay for each, showing police vehicles swarming areas and attempting to hold off a crowd of people. "The police have confirmed that they are Boatman Murders... following the killer's pattern."
The streets slowed to a complete stop as men and women stepped out of their cars and watched the screens, their mouths dropping open as the news woman continued on with her report. When the normal commercials flashed back on the crowd remained frozen for several seconds before finally going back to their normal activities.
The rain started pouring, once again. The scent of rain mixed with aroma of gasoline. A lone coffee shop sat at the corner of Crescent and Eclipse Street. The shaded windows blocked out the dim lights that were on inside. Silhouettes danced around the inside of the coffee shop, carrying trays and mugs of steaming herbal teas. People of all sorts gathered here, attempting to escape reality's harsh grasp. No one would know it, but this was the place the Moirae chose for the Gods new journey of cleansing the world. But without knowledge of who or what they were, how could they?

Rules and Guidelines
Okay, so I am a pretty fair person, but I don't want this roleplay littered with nonsense. So I am going to be posting some basic Rules and Guidelines. Got it? Awesome. Remember, I am the Head Goddess of this thread, and I will smite you if you tick me off.
Rules-
[1.] This thread is PG-17; I understand that we got the Greek Mythology thing going on here, but let's not go too overboard. Meaning No Cybering (Taking off clothes, sex... etc etc) or Extensive Cussing.
[2.] No Godmoding or Powerplaying (Unless it is talked out between you and another player). I hate that... Really, I do. I will smite you if you do this.
[3.] PLEASE DON'T GO IDLE ONE ME! Three days of being Idle I will send you a notification. Fifth day, your profile is deleted and the character position will be open. If you are going out of town or something of the like. I will note that you are away rather than idle.
[4.] This is a Semi-Literate to a Literate roleplay. Please make note of that. When you send your profile, please send a example (One or Two paragraphs of your writing abilities. This will be featured in the Profile Skeleton, but not hosted on where the profiles are posted on the forum.) as much, a FULL PARAGRAPH (Five to Six sentences) is required in a post.
[5.] NO PAIRING OFF!!! It is not fair to others when you and one person just go off into your own little La-La Land. Got it? Awesome. It's a GROUP roleplay for a reason.
[6.] Humans only for Gods and Goddesses! Powers/Magic come into play LATER! No character knows who or what they are, or what they are capable of! Normal humans for now, please. You will not be accepted if your bio says your character has had weird ass episodes of power or their parents telling them that they are special. Furthermore, if your character sits there and goes 'Omg... Who am I?' Well... Bye Bye.
[7.]READ EVERYTHING!!! If you don't know what the hell is going on, you read. Your parents/guardians sent you to school for a reason, don't make an ass of yourself by screwing up my roleplay and going off in your own little fantasy world! GOT IT?! Great.
Failure to obey these rules, you get kicked. Got it? Awesome.
Guidelines-
- This is modern times, sort of Sci-Fi ish... Keep your attire within that genre. Also the character you are portraying, they don't have to look exactly like they were described in the legends.
- You are playing a God or Goddess who doesn't know what they are, but please keep your character in character of the Gods.
I.E: If you are Aphrodite, she was known as the Goddess of Love. Don't make her gothic and a lone wolf. Also, do some research on the character that you are playing. If you need to know more, there is a link in my first post that leads to Wikipedia and briefs you on the Gods and Goddesses and what they stand for.
- Many know Gods and Goddesses to have affairs with all sorts, but you don't have to still be or fall in love with the same person as the Greeks.
I.E: Aphrodite fooled around with Ares, but this is a new day an age, she doesn't have to fall in love with the character portraying Ares or vice versa.
- If you are playing a character, you do not have to use that character's name.
I.E: The person playing Aphrodite, doesn't have to be called Aphrodite. She could be called Rebecca or Risa.
- Do you have to be the same gender as a God or Goddess? No. Since this is like reincarnation, you can be a man or woman version of that God or Goddess. But please... I don't want this roleplay full of retarded girls. Kay? Awesome.
- Oh my god... You can be other things than a God or Goddess? Yes! That's the beauty of it! Nymphs thrive, giants live along with other legends and myths. They can know what they are. But they can't say what they are. I mean, think about it. If a Nymph ran around going "I'm a nymph!" They are going to throw her ass into a science lab and operate... So no squeeling. Do they know who the Gods and Goddesses are? No. But they can sense them.

Athena (Active)
Quote:
Username: Sagando Mirasta
Character Name: Daniel Keys
Age: 23
Gender: Male
God/Goddess: Athena
Species: Human
Appearance: Daniel is thin and fairly small. His skin is pale, eyes a sparkling soft gray, hair a breezy pale blonde. He has a thin physique, but no one would consider him fragile. While certainly not "ripped," he has definite, defined muscle. His face is very delicate, but also very masculine; no one would confuse him for a girl. He is 5'5", and probably 120lbs. His hair is nearly to his shoulders, but again, it is not in a feminine style.
The best representation of Daniel I could find. Edited slightly for use here, original artwork *not* by me. :3
Personality: Daniel is very smart. He loves to read and write, and occasionally, he likes to paint. He has an extensive collection of books in his personal library on a wide range of topics, fiction and non-fiction. As such, he can be a bit of a know-it-all, but it's not intentional. If someone has knew knowledge to give him, he will give the person his full attention. He's very friendly, and he is kind, but he does not suffer fools well. He is more than willing to put someone in his proper place, and if curt wit will not do the job, he is not above resorting to crude terminology and foul language. (He does attempt to avoid that, though, as he has an education.) He is, more often than not, the buddy, the good friend, but never the boyfriend. Not for lack of interest, mind, and his interests are not limited to just one sex. He does draw the line at human, though, or at least humanoid, as the case may (unknowingly) be. He is also generally calm and collected.
Bio: Daniel was raised by his mother, Lainey Keys, for a good portion of his life. His father either died or ran off; his mother never specified, and he didn't worry much about it. When he was thirteen years old, Lainey met Richard Bellemonte, and after two years of dating, she married him. Richard worked very hard to get along with Daniel, and Daniel respects him, though there is an understanding that Richard is not his father. Richard was a wealthy man, and he really helped Daniel begin his book collection with several of his own older books. Richard also took Daniel hunting a few times out of the year, and from these trips, he learned how to shoot a gun and a bow, and how to handle a knife. He also learned how to use every part of several animals for various things; Waste not, want not, and take home tools, not trophies.
Danieal learned to enjoy painting as a young child. He and his mother could not afford much, so often if they went out, it was to free events. The museum always had a free exhibit, and he loved to see what was new. He often went to the library after museum trips to learn about the artists whose work was on display.
Special Skills: Daniel has a lot of knowledge from reading many books, and he can read quickly. He writes fairly well, and he has a knack for painting. His mother tried to teach him knitting once, as she enjoyed that, but it really wasn't his thing.
Secret Abilities: Ability to speak with snakes and birds, particularly owls. Good luck in battle.
Crush: None at the moment. :3

Apollo (Active)
Quote:
Username: dianakitsune
Character Name: Alexia Summers
Age: 23
Gender: Female
God/Goddess: Apollo
Species: Human
Appearance: X
Personality: Alexia is a very cheerful girl and tries to remain optimistic in any situation, no matter how bad it is. Despite her cheerfulness, she is usually a quiet girl and very wise. She's also very strong, determined, loyal to those dear to her and very friendly, but if you get on her bad side, she just might not speak to you again. Alexia doesn’t like to bother with people who anger her, so her best way is to ignore them or avoid them through silence.
Bio: Alexia is the only girl in a family of five. She grew up with two brothers who pick on her, but she still loves them anyway. This is also probably why she befriends boys easier than girls. Having more boys as friends also made her more of a quiet person. Boys didn't gossip like girls and were more interested in video games than shopping.
Alexia didn't grow up in a wealthy family, but a happy one, which is why she’s so cheerful. Though she has experienced pain and loss, she found that by being strong and smiling, she could cheer others up. Alexia, however, can get mad and her favorite form of anger is the silent treatment. She found this worked because eventually her brothers would beg her for forgiveness. Her silent anger also scares her friends and has yet to fail her. Besides, she couldn't imagine herself yelling at someone. She was a quiet and kind person, one that wouldn't normally raise their voice unless it was something important.
Alexia now works as a waitress in a cafe' in order to pay her way through college, having just graduated recently with a degree in photography, she is now working to pay off loans and help support her family, but still takes pictures in her free time. (Her favorite being nature) Her strong will and determination come from her experience of having to work in order to make her living and achieve her goals.
Special Skills: Cheering people up and faking cheerfulness so others won't be sad because she's sad. (I thought this worked for healing) She also has a knack of knowing when something good or something bad is going to happen, but it's just a feeling and usually she ends up being right. (Prophet like)
Secret Abilities: Can control light to form a sword to fight or lyre to calm or heal. She could even light a room if she wanted, however a light source must be available (Light Beams). She can take this light and bring it into a dark room or make a candle light shine brighter. Her powers tend to be stronger by day and her ability to sense good and bad is also strengthened by the sun.

Artemis (Away)
Username: Kriddles
Character Name: Derrick Wane
Age: Twenty- Seven
Gender: Male
God/Goddess: Artemis
Species: Human
Appearance: Derrick (Minus the glasses)
Personality: Derrick is a very intelligent young man. Clever with words, he is able to turn people against one another or calm them down. He is loyal and good at heart but that doesn't mean he will look past your crimes if you have them. He is very quiet when observing something or someone, you could easily mistake him as 'zoned out'. He has never been in a long term relationship, seeing as though he doesn't have time to make a commitment to any one woman. Nor does he pleasure himself in one nighters.
Bio: Derrick was born a wealthy child. He grew up in a lavish lifestyle, while being the top of his public high dollar school. His clothes were the latest of fashion and his hair was styled perfectly. Wanting him to go into a career of acting or modeling, his parents put him in drama and modeling school along with his public schooling. He went, though he was always ill-tempered when he came home. The years passed and his mood grew fouler and fouler, when he finally stumbled upon some kids just hanging out and about at the corner of a street. It was there that he realised what he had been missing out on, and he continued to sneak out to be with his true friends. It was in High School that he got a sour taste of the real world. One of the local street gangs broke up a political get-together and killed several men and women, his mother and father being amongst them. No one found the murderers, and the gang went free. Infuriated, Derrick vowed not to give up. After gaining his parents inheriatance he went to college and studied to become an iron hand in the law force. He finally caught the men who had killed his parents, and instead of throwing them in jail, with words alone he had them kill one another. Since he had not killed the men himself, he walked free from any charges not even stepping into a court room. Now with the Boatman Murders popping up again, he has his hands full once again.
Special Skills: Wonderful Vision, very observative. He tends to pick up the little things people do, including their personality traits. He's likes to hunt, be it animal or person. He is skilled with words and is very charismatic.
Secret Abilities: In touch with the Moon, Derrick gains majority of his strength off of it while his spirit becomes more alive. His eyesight is sharped and almost animalistic, while his hearing is increased as well. He can also bend the night (The darkness of Erebus and the Moonlight of Selene) to his will and make a bow, quiver and arrows out of Nyx herself. (Once available)

Character Name: Alexandria "Lex" Anton
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
God/Goddess: Dionysus
Species: Human
Appearance: Lex
Personality: Lex is something of a party girl with a vicious streak. She'll out drink, out cuss and out manipulate almost anyone. Her favorite drink is wine and, while usually pretty laid back, if you insult her mother or call her parentage into question, she'll beat you silly.
Bio: Lex was born into a well respected family. Though her mother wasn't married at the time she became pregnant, she claimed that the father was a famous musician. He, however, denied the claim and refused to marry Lex's mother despite her family's pleas. Once, when Lex and her mother had first moved to Olympus City, one of the kids in her class at school loudly and rudely doubted that the musician was indeed Lex's father and she broke not only his nose, but also his arm.
Special Skills: Drinking, throwing parties, social maneuvering.
Secret Abilities: Lex has a bizarre effect on the psyche's of others, that is to say that if she's feels like it, she can affect their perceptions. She can also turn water into wine and make grape vines grow from nothing.

Hermes (Active)
Quote:
Username: Cows Go Moo
Character Name: Ace Rayner
Age: Twenty
Gender: Male
God/Goddess: Hermes
Species: Human
Appearance: [Ace]
Personality: Ace is quite the accomplished liar. He lies to protect himself, to protect the feelings of others (sometimes), and sometimes just to see how the situation unfolds. He has the tendency to disregard people's feelings, especially when he ends up being rude to them or snide with remarks. Though he just tells people to grow a skin. He is also quite the kleptomaniac, able to distract people all while stealing their money, necklaces or even their cellphone, though he has no use for half the things that he steals. Usually, it's just to see if he can steal them. Quite the daredevil no? Sometimes he can be arrogant, believing that the skills he does have are better than those of others.
Bio: Ace grew up in an average home with two parents, a sister, and a two story house, all in a cul-de-sac. However, his school life wasn't exactly ordinary. He was usually a fast talker and also the smart-aleck of class which would either get him punished or get a round of laughs and a teacher who was red in the face. But this didn't last for long. Around middle school, his infamy faded and for a while he had stopped talking in class altogether. The reason? It was because his father had lost his job and at the time, they were already low on cash, leading to some arguments that split up the two. He stayed with his mother, but that's when his kleptomania started with at first, stealing a few unmarked items in clearance and escalating with clothing. By the time he was eighteen, he was happy to move out, though he was sure nothing about him changed, aside from the fact that he knew how to hide things better and well, avoid any form of authority.
Special Skills: Pickpocketing/stealing, Fast running speed, Fast metabolism which makes for a lot of stamina, Lying easily
Secret Abilities: Wing-tipped shoes that allow him flight and supersonic speeds

Iris (Away)
Quote:
Username: Knitted Doll
Character Name: Honeysuckle Smith
Age: 23
Gender: Female
God/Goddess: Iris
Species: Human
Appearance: Honey is tall and skinny, with a small bust and boxy masculine hips; not anyone's idea of a pretty woman. Her quick eyes are an off-grey/blue shade, set in a slim heart-shaped face dominated by her long nose. The color of her hair changes on a weekly basis, but it's generally relatively short - she has a love of setting it off with large, brightly colored earrings.
Personality: A little eccentric, she's a bit of a geek and an artist - her shared flat is always festooned with whatever art project she currently has on, and decorated with pictures of superheroes; her favorites are Batman (because he's the goddamn batman!) and Gambit (because he's lovely and severely underrated).
Bio: She isn't by her own admission anything special; her mother and father were good fundamentalist christians, who rather deplore her choice of lifestyle; it causes a little conflict, but for the most part, although they're not happy, they accept her and love her for who she is. She got acceptable, if not incredible, marks at school, but didn't go to university. Instead, after a big fight with her girlfriend over whether she would go or not (they haven't spoken since), she moved to the big city, and took up a job as a motorcycle courier; it seemed appropriate, for some reason.
Special Skills: She can do all sort of weird tricks on her motorbike, and makes excellent brownies.
Secret Abilities: She has a sort of 'map sense'; she doesn't need maps, or to have been somewhere before, to know where all of the short-cuts and ways around things are. She also seems to be able to fly on that bike...

Persephone (Away)
Username: Kriddles
Character Name: Emily Davids
Age: Twenty-four
Gender: Female
God/Goddess: Persephone
Species: Human
Appearance: Emily (Her eyes are green rather than brown.)
Personality: She has a rather dark sense of humor, and usually finds love rather sickening most of the time. Sense she spends most of her time in the graveyard, she prefers silence above the hustle and bustle of the city. She holds many dark secrets and alternate agendas usually, and hides them with a fake smile. However, on occassion, she does have a nice streak.
Bio: Emily grew up on the poor side of town, struggling for money she always attempted to find jobs when her mother left her and her father to be on their own. But being the social butterfly that she is, led her to lose more jobs than gain. When her father grew sick, she struggled to help any way that she could by taking on multiple jobs to pay for his medicine, ignoring friends to help the family she had left. He fell to the illness and died when she was sixteen, however, leaving her to thrive on her own. Ever since then she works in the Graveyard, planting flowers and plants to soothe her anger and the spirits. She has grown to know Gerald, the gravedigger, quite well talking to him when the spirits do not reply. She looked up to Gerald as another father figure, and a wise man. With the Boatman Killings going on, she and him have been busy.
Special Skills: She has a green thumb, and a beautiful smile that could melt the souls of others. But her grim outlook on life tends to make her seem a bit more... Ghoulish. She also has a knack for knowing when someone is on their death bed, and isn't afraid of death like many others.
Secret Abilities: Emily has a green thumb but not to the extent of Demeter. She is intuned with the Gaia and her bounty, able to listen to her when she speak her stories to her. But along with being able to communicate with Gaia and her children she can also speak with the souls of the dead, and can even take on some of their personalities allowing them to live through her, if only for a few seconds. Username: The Jupiter Alien
Character Name: Karen Stone
Age: Twelve
Gender: Female
God/Goddess: N/A
Species: Nymph
Appearance: Karen
Personality: Karen is a typical nymph, very timid but down-to-earth. She's deeply in tune with nature and extremely observant. She's usually very quiet, and when she talks, it usually sounds as if she's talking under her breath - like muttering - or whispering. Sometimes her timidness gets the best of her, and she can be an easy pushover.
Bio: Karen's nickname is Twiggy, but she usually only uses it with family. She's Chiara's little sister and sees her big sister as her protector and idol. When her elder sister left the forest and their home, it was truly devastating to Twiggy and she's in search of her sister in the city. She carries around a small handmade doll in the shape of a kitsune (fox) given to her by Chiara.
Special Skills: Good with tending to herbs and plants,
Secret Abilities: Affinity with Earth element, good with healing. She can 'trace' people, in the sense of knowing where someone's been (think traceable DNA, but aura-ified).
Crush: No one
Post Color: Sandy Brown (though I see it as light orange)

Alexia paused in her work of cleaning tables as the news came on. "More dead," Her coworker said as he joined her in front of the TV. Everyone else in the small cafe' had turned their attention to the TV as well. "I'll give you a ride home tonight," He smiled at Alexia, "A young lady like you shouldn't be walking the streets alone at night."
"Thanks," Alexia replied. He had been giving her ride homes for awhile now, ever since the killings started. If he couldn't because she worked later than him, one of her brother's would pick her up.
When the commercials came back on, she tossed the rag she was using to wipe down the tables in the sink and went back to serving customers. Now that their faces weren't glued to the screen, they seemed to be ready to order.

Derrick Wane turned the corner of the main strip of the city, the blinding lights of LCD screens and neon signs blocked the moon's glory while the obnoxious noise overwhelmed the silence that came with the night. He frowned refusing to glance towards the screens while they promised everlasting beauty and fairer skin, and was almost greatful when the news anchor made a 'special' report of more killings. He stopped then, his black boots, pants and midnight blue shirt blending in with the night. He turned to face one of the LCD screens to catch glimpses of the victims' faces. They were beautiful compared to what he had observed today when he was actual at the scene. Blessed be the moon, the fouler details were hidden by the darkness's glory, or at least it was until some moron shown a light on the bodies. They had been mangled and unrecognizable for the most part. Beaten to a pulp, and stripped of their dignity the only things that were on their person was two coins on the eyes. Thus being called the Boatman Murders.
He continued down the street, refusing to hear anymore of the broadcast, towards his favorite place. A small coffee shop with friendly faces. It was out of the way so only it was usually just filled with loyal patrons. He opened the door hearing the familar tingle of a bell just above the darkened glass door and gave a nod to everyone who turned to look at him. He sat down at the cherrywood bar and looked up at Alexia, "The usual, Black... no sugar." He said with a bit of a sigh. When he heard the ending news cast he frowned and shook his head. "They don't cease... Tomorrow we'll find more missing and won't have any idea as to where they went." Everyone knew his profession here. It wasn't hard to figure out.

"Yes sir," Alexia said and went to pour him a cup of coffee. A lot of people these days seemed worried so she did her best to hide her fears and smile. This guy, Derrick seemed even more troubled than most, but of course his job was to find these murders. That couldn't have been an easy job and probably stressful, or so she thought.
Alexia smoothed her apron out and brushed her bangs out of her face before heading back to her customer. "Here you are," She smiled hoping to lighten his mood and placed the cup of coffee on the table. However, her smile these days seemed to work less often, but it was better than worrying and it didn't hurt to try. "Let me know if you need anything else."

Travis sighed deeply as he halfheartedly listened to the report that the policeman was rattling off to the other crew members. All of them scribbled down his words and the more intelligent ones used a tape recorder. There had been another murder, 'surprise surprise', and of course their little newspaper had to be all over it. It was good news obviously, but he had been over the scene so many times and taken so many pictures of the same pattern of mangled bodies and crime scenes, that it was really starting to get boring to him. It would be nice if the public would stop obsessing over the killings and get on to a happier note so he wouldn't have to process a hundred some pictures of corpses a day. Seriously, he should have worked for a private investigator with how many dead bodies he took.
Grumbling to himself as they zipped the corpse into the same black bag they always did, he couldn't help but turn away as they plucked the blood spattered coins off what was left of the mans eyes. He was missing one. And if there was one thing he couldnt stand to see, it was dismembered eyes. It just creeped him out. Looking across the street and peered into the window of a small cafe. Smiling impishly, he caught a glimps of a very cute waitress in the window. As she went over to serve her customer he could see a pink tank top like shirt underneath and the way she was standing gave him a clear view of her chest. Chuckling to himself, he pulled up his camera to catch a shot before she turned away.
"People just have no shame anymore," He said as he took the picture.

Derrick looked down at the grain in the cherrywood bar, tracing one of the age lines with his finger. When Alexia came back with his cup of coffee he looked up at her. She smiled at him, and he returned the kind gesture with one of his own smiles. "Thank you." Derrick said. He turned to looked out the cafe window as if staring right at Travis, before turning back towards Alexia. He took a sip of the warm brew, enjoying the taste as much as possible before turning back to the screen. More commercials, the spokeswomen smiling while they talked about hair products and cosmetics, as if the murders never happened. He shook his head, before turning back to Alexia. "You should be careful... majority of the victims have been women." He didn't care about keeping quiet. Everyone probably knew already, nothing was a mystery anymore. He leaned back on the stool, just enough to hit the back rest.

Running. It was one of the things that helped Ace Rayner think clearly and it relaxed him. The blonde continued to pump his feet, heading to his apartment. It was starting to get late and well, he had things to do, shows to watch, homework to do (not that he'd start it). And speaking of things to watch, I swear that the guy behind the Boatman murders is a misogynist. He had watched the news in the morning and it didn't help that for a while now, he had been listening to a podcast on the whole subject. They made light of it, but Ace knew that it was no laughing matter (though he did laugh in public a few times, making people around him raise an eyebrow or two).
Oh wait, he had a road to watch. Rather than risk jaywalking, Ace lowered the volume on his music player and waited until it was safe to cross. Mm, he was feeling hungry though. He needed a break anyhow, having been running for several hours (he still had two days before that essay was due anyway). Continuing his short run, he reached the cafe and walked inside, deciding to order some coffee. Caffeine was essential for any student in college.

"You're welcome," Alexia replied as Derrick's head turned. She, too, turned to see what Derrick was looking at only to discover a man with a camera. She wondered why anyone would be taking pictures in the rain, but Derrick spoke again and she turned her attention to him. He was her customer after all, therefore more important than the man outside.
"Don't worry about me," She said and smiled, "I have brothers for that." She then left to serve another customer. Alexia made sure to give each person an equal amount of attention. It was her job to make sure the customers were happy with their order, of course she took the extra step to cheer them up. However, when there was down time or the customers preferred not to be bothered, she would latch herself into a conversation, usually with a group of men. They were always willing to tale their tales of fishing and hunting.
"And what may I get you," Alexia smiled as a boy soaked from rain ran into the cafe. He had a music player on him and looked like a college a student, though Alexia knew it was best not to assume things, so she tossed the thought.

Anarith pushed open the door to a little coffee shop. She sighed a little as she took her umbrella down and shook it out the door. Walking in she slide into an empty booth and rested her umbrella beside her. Maybe she'd hang her for a bit, and just relax before she went home. It was relatively quiet in here, and it seemed peaceful.
She leaned her head on her hands closing her eyes briefly as she thought a little. "Our city, seems to be hitting rock bottom..." she whispered below her breath, turning to watch the night sky from the window. She slowly placed a hand on it, and stared out into the dark night. She didn't pay much mind to anyone around her. Her mind was whirling with thoughts of the City and her life. How were people going to continue on like this?

"Coffee please, two creams and two sugars," Ace answered, running a hand through his wet, slightly matted hair. Well it couldn't be helped since it wasn't a good idea to try and run with an umbrella in one hand. He wouldn't probably drop it or something. He stepped to the side when another person, a girl, had walked inside who immediately headed to a booth. He probably should do the same, but well...he was really wet. Thankfully, his mp3 player wasn't wet, though the outside of his earphones were slightly damp.
Finding a two-seat table, he sat down and shook off some of the residual water in his hair (he was glad that he moved away) and glanced around the busy cafe, noting the various sorts of people there. He assumed that most of them were in their twenties and some, maybe college students or others who just decided to stay here to wait out the rain.

Derrick observed the newcomers while sipping at his coffee. Some of them he had never seen in here before such as the blonde young man that must've been a college student judging by his attire and the MP3 wire that was visible. He entered, soaked from head to know. Rain always upset him, seeing as the clouds blocked out the moon and washed away hardcore evidence most of the time. He had been lucky enough to get all the evidence that they could before the rain wash anything away.
Then another patron entered, a young girl with a small umbrella that matched her frame. She could make any man's head turn with her fresh beauty, but he didn't see the promise of a relationship. He wondered if she had broken many hearts with her beauty. He tossed the thought and turned back to the mug and sipped from it again. It was starting to cool, losing the kick it originally had.

"Alright, It'll be ready in a minute," Alexia smiled at the man and then moved on to the new girl that had entered. She did her best to make sure she got everyone as soon as they came in. "Good evening, may I get you anything?" She asked kindly. It was amazing lately how many new faces she had been seeing. She didn't mind though since that meant business was doing good and she needed this job.

Anarith smiled up at her kindly, watching her a bit intently. "Yes, some sweet iced tea. And bring extra sugar please." she ordered off the top of her head. Knowing that not many sweet teas could satisfiy her sweet tooth. She smiled at the waitress. "Thank you...? Um your name sweetie?" she asked with an amused smile on her face. She was a cute little thing, looked like she could fall hard and long for the right guy, and visa versa.
She would make this a regular stop. It seemed to quiet her as even her apartment didn't. She suspected that by the number of people filing in that, that could be said for a lot of people as well. Maybe she could begin a friendship here with this girl. All of her friends were older office women. She had begun to wonder if she'd ever actually find a friend again, because hers had run from the city terrified of the murders. They weren't the only ones, but it seems like they had all gone together. It made her a bit lonely sometimes.
But friends and feelings didn't pay the rent.

Travis couldnt hold in a little bit of a chuckle as the other girl came into the shop. Could he get any luckier today? Even the rain and the smell of death weren't bothering him anymore. He did note this and figured that feeling comfortable around death was a bad sign all together, but there were too many cleavage shots to be had, so he didn't think too much into it.
He had taken a good twenty some pictures for his own sake when a slap on the back of his head woke him up, shoving his eye hard into the back of the camera. The camera fell from his hands and would have surely shattered on the ground shouldn't have had it nicely strapped around the back of his neck. Rubbing the spot on where the camera had hit him, he turned to face his boss.
"What in gods name are you doing?" The large mustached man boomed.
"Taking pictures," He said truithfully.
"I can see that. I'm not paying you to take pictures of a cafe!" He yelled, his face getting reder by the second, "That films coming out of your paycheck."
"Oh come on!"
"Hey! Your lucky i dont fire you! Unless theres somthing damn newsworthy in that little shop then your paying for the pictures"
"Fine..." he sighed and went to put the camera in its case, taking his own smaller one out of his bag and hanging it around his neck.
"Good, now get out of my sight. Your done for today," The boss said and walked off.
"Yes siiir," Travis said with contempt when the man was out of sight. Sighing to himself and mourning the loss of his money, he turned his attention back to the cafe. Well, he had nothing better to do did he?
With little apprehension, Travis opened the door to the cafe and sat down in a booth getting it wet with his soping wet hooddy on.

Derrick glanced from the corner of his eye when the photographer walked through the door. The tingle of the door bell rang announcing the young man's arrival. He sipped the last bit of coffee before setting down the mug. He leaned back against the back rest of the stool. He observed the newcomers from afar. The young girl that had just entered ordered a sweet tea with extra sugar. She definately had a sweet tooth, one that she had control over by the looks of her physique. She attempted to make small talk with the waitress who was stressed with trying to up her pay either for college or a family. College most likely judging by her age and how she carried herself. She was constantly trying to keep the customers happy and rushed around. The college patron had ordered a coffee with two creams and sugars. He must've needed a boost of energy but he also didn't want the full hit of just pure caffiene. And while the photographer must've just come here for the women inside, seeing as though he constantly kept glancing at the waitress.
A girl about twenty-four years old held up an umbrella as the rain poured down outside, her eyes were such a vivid green that they almost glowed in the night. The black umbrella barely covered her as it sheilded a much older man that she led by the arm. The rain soaked her only on one side as she led the older man into the cafe. She looked around for a brief second, her eyes darting around as if making sure it was safe. She leaned in towards the elderly man and whispered something to him, before looking back at the cafe and folding the umbrella.

Travis looked over his shoulder at Derrick, meeting his eyes for a few moments before pulling away. He wasn't very interested in him. All he wanted now was that waitress and a cup of coffee. Maybe even a blueberry muffin if he was feeling adventurous. Turning his attention to his table he looked down at the place mat with mild interest. It was made of paper with numerous adds scattered across it for local businesses and whatnot. It was cute, but it was mostly for massages, hair salons and pet care. Not surprisingly, none of those things were of any particular interest to him.
With a sigh he peeled off a piece of the paper and rolled it into a tight ball for no particular reason what so ever. After a bit of that, he pulled a pen from his pack and started to doodle on the paper. Drawing mustaches on the peoples faces and whatnot. He even drew Godzilla eating one of the puppies heads. It didnt look much like Godzilla though, it looked more like an amoeba with teeth. Lifting his eyes from the silly doodles he looked around at the other inhabitants. Particularly the female ones. Anarith to be more specific. She was incomparably cute with her little sweet tooth. He found himself staring at the girl with a small grin, not careing much if she saw him or not.

Anarith looked around a little and caught someone staring at her. She raised an amused eyebrow and waved with her fingers. The waitress seemed a bit out of sorts, she was trying to keep everyone happy. She wondered if the girl was working for a reason other than working. Like what may she be saving for.
She turned her attention back to the man staring at her. He seemed a bit cute, but she wasn't all that interested..... He wasn't a good catch, for most anyone, not unless they liked his type. She wanted someone who would always be there for her, and accept her for herself. She knew it was damn near impossible to find someone like that for herself, so she settled for hooking up others.
She would never hook up anyone with him, he was a better one night stand than a long term relationship. She huffed a little and looked out the window again, watching him on it.

"Honestly Emily, I believe you worry too much." The old man tilted his head up from it's resting position of his shoulders. Old gray eyes scanned the coffee house as a smile slowly develops on his face. His clothes were of gray and black shrouded in a gray cloak that was given to him years ago. The smell of dirt and mud clung to him from his work as a gravedigger. And though his body was frail and weathered by age and labor, his wit and personality kept him young in heart and mind. "I've buried all manner of victims of this city, and you know as well as I do, that this boatman has little need of ending my life, nor spending his business in a coffee shop. We're safe here." His dirty boots started to step on ahead of her, they were small steps, but speedy even for one his age.
Mark hurried past the young girl, and nearly shoved the old man out of the way. "Step aside old man!" The brute was a monster of a man, at six and half feet tall, he was intimidating to behold. His hair had been dyed red not too long ago, but was currently in the process of being grown out. Though unseen at the moment, his body had been marred with scars from hundreds of fights. And his face showed the same ware, a few scars around the lips, the eyebrows, the cheeks. His brown eyes scanned the room quickly, but only to find a seat at an empty table. He was dressed in a wife beater, his leather jacket had shown some use and wear on itself. Bluejeans and shin eye boots would complete the outfit. His knuckles and hands had bandages around them and he flexed the fingers for continued use. He even was bold enough to knock on the table to get service, a very impatient customer it would seem.

Emily quickly steadied Gerald using her body as a brace. She glared after Mark a frown on her face. Oh if only she could... she shook the thought away. Taking in a breath she turned her attention back to Gerald. "Yes... safe from everything except the local riff-raff." She huffed as she led him towards a booth beside Anarith's. She looked around again, before spotting Travis nearly drooling over the waitress and Anarith. She couldn't help but shake her head and roll her eyes. She was usually very friendly, but some people were just so rediculous.
Derrick watched the scene, if the man became anymore of a nuisance he would step in. They already had enough troubles with the damned killer, they didn't need a big commotion in his favorite spot. He tapped the counter before turning his attention to the window. It was still pouring outside.

As more people milled in, Ace couldn't help but start to observe them, his eyes first falling back on the girl that had come in after him. Sure she was quite the looker, but he wouldn't find himself going after her. It'd be too much trouble. Plus, it looked like another guy had his eye on the girl. There were three others: a young woman, a guy with red hair, and lastly, an old man. What an odd group of people... But he had to admit, that redhead acted as mean as he looked.

"I'm Alexia," Alexia responded to the new girl. She had gotten preoccupied when another man walked into the cafe'. She loved to chat, but she had to make sure no one got upset because she was slow. She smiled, "I'll be right back with your order." She hoped by then people would stop coming in the door so she could actually have a conversation with some of her customers.
"Coming," Alexia said startled by someone banging on the table. The other man with the camera had come first, but she had no choice but to start with the impatient customer. She hurried to the table where the impatient man was waiting and smiled politely, "And what can I get you?" She had her pen and pad ready so she could quickly get his order and then hurry over to the camera guy. Knowing this guy, she'd have to bring his coffee first even though the other customers had ordered before him.

Anarith smile gently watching the girl flit to the rude man at the table. He gave off quite the nasty aura. But she found guys like him most to her liking. If she was correct, even though he was violent he would go all out for whoever he fell in love with. She sighed as she imagined how many women had fallen for him. He seemed like he could be a good be partner.
She was blantantly staring, observing his scars with interest, they didn't take away from his looks but seemed to add to it... Hopefully she wasn't wrong about his personality. He might change with love, and she would find it fasinating to watch. The hard exterior cracking under new more intense feelings other than rage.
She sighed a little and began to hum a little letting her eyes stray around the shop. Soon she was singing a bit under her breath while staring up at the cloud covered sky.
