O.o I didn't think it was boring, I found it amusing actually. Lot of cursing and talk about Sex. The first time I read it I thought it was amazing, the second time I read it I realized it wasn't as amazing as I originally thought but it was still good. It's just one of those books that your either like or you don't.

@kat - bwahaha, pneumatic trousers? that alone is a brilliant reason to read it.

@shadow - actually, it's because of the awful english dub that i couldn't watch it on adult swim, so now i'm finally getting around to downloading fansubs.
and it looks like they've formatted the files so each season can fit neatly onto one dvd. <3
japanese is always awesome, duh. 8D
there are very few shows that i can stand the english dub for and it's mainly because i watched and loved the english dub first. gundam wing (oh scott mcneil. <3), inuyasha depending on the episode, cowboy bebop because they did amazingly, trigun because johnny bosch did wonderfully (although he very much failed as ichigo.) and the big o. because i'm crazy. steven blum. <3
I HAVE MY PRIORITIES IN ORDER. @_@;;;;
and then of course there's the ranma, but that's only because i have VHSs with the dub that i got, like, 3-4 years ago.
but i am downloading the mkvs of the entire thing, so yay. the audio tracks included are japanese, english, spanish, and portugese. and, of course, the subs are english, spanish, and portugese.
i also have a single VHS of raw, raw lain, but the cover is the pioneer english dub cover. i was like WTFMATE?

@chisagi - ohmygoodness. READ, WOMAN, READ.
may i ask what foreign language the library is?

@bishie - i always type my replies in textedit (mac's answer to notepad) and then copy them over because sometimes things i am replying to come from the page before.
dude. i heard that. i was all "true dat." 'cause i'm still in ghetto mode from high school. ;_;

It's very disappointing, apparently blow up trousers to make sitting on benches comfortably can be described as 'pneumatic' now.

well that is very upsetting. D:
pneumatic is supposed to be spiffy.

on another note, i got almost perfect. the torchwood book. <3
squee.
OH, AND MIKA'S ALBUM. :B

and i also just took a photoshoot of my manga bookcase. but it's for one of my gaia guilds. "manga picture guild" because i need to update my thread. XD
i also rearranged all of my bookcases to fit more books. so i will take pictures of those once i clear the floor space in front of them.
everything will be more organized once i put all of my big wooden wall-shelves above my bed. they will house my dvds and cds. 8D
and once i find a real home for my magazines, i can use that tall skinny bookcase for my books i don't want in my other bookcases.
like my reference books and the books that aren't mine. x3 (not joking. most of them are borrowed from my grandparents' houses or my mom.)

also, i just realized, with my current book organizing system, the new torchwood book is going with all of my other "series with multiple authors" books.
namely, two alias books, a single charmed book, and numerous dear america and royal diaries books. XD
and because of my new organizing, i have large pockets between author names starting with me-sn. which will probably be filled with discworld novels once i read the four i have.

... that was all about my bookcases and related subjects, wasn't it?
oh dear. @_@;;

There is a discussion about 'hiding the bulge' which could be funny out of context...

When I typed 'Torchwood novels' into Google Chrome it suggested topshop.com. You're doing it wrong Google. I need to return my library books on Wednesday (I actually read them all for once) so I'll grab whatever other Torchwood books they have then.

Oh, that reminds me, I read The Wolves in the Walls and The Day I Swapped my Dad for Two Goldfish but I haven't put them on my list because they're so short and mainly pictures. XD

@leenie: I like going places. xD
I'm getting a new bookcase! Well, it's in my basement right now filled with construction books. So I'm moving upstairs to the hall outside my room, after I clean it. I should really take pictures of them all and post them, but I have no idea how I'm going to organize my shelves once I get the new case. I mean right now the cases form a "circle" (it wraps into another room), and the all face into each other. The new ones going to be basically backwards in the circle.
So should that be where the books start or should it be the end? @_@
On the same note-ish, I think I'm going to paint that Manga display shelf you gave me. People are complaining that the bright green doesn't fit in with the hallway. (The manga shelf actually holds my DVDs, not my manga.) Also I need to make a shelf just for manga, it's taking the 'M' shelf that I have them on. xD Though, where should I put my comics? I don't have enough to make a shelf for them but they don't look right next to the manga. @_@
I can talk about my book shelves a lot too.

Today I helped my mom set up a Shelfari account. She was complaining because she lost her little notepad filled with all the authors and books she's read and wants to read. So I told her that there are sites that help you organize stuff like that. She was so excited it was ridiculous. I think she's been on there for almost two hours adding the books to it. xD

@kat - oh. ohgod. MUST READ. @_@
lolwtftopshop? way to go, google.
DO LIKE I DID AND ADD TWO FOR ONE. 8D

@dani - hrrmmm i should make a list.
but i found out about a place that's like picapica only more dishes and less toys.
and it's right next to another comic store than the epic one i was talking about.
best part? it is approximately five minutes driving from one to the other. XD
dani has too many bookshelves. you need bigger ones.
where are you putting the new one?
paint it~~~
i have no clue where you're going to put your manga, but since you're getting a new case, maybe on that?
your comics need to go on the case between your tv and desk. that's really the only one with shelves tall enough.

your mom. i love your mom. XD <3
although i fear she may just be browsing and not actually adding things.
her shelfari shelf has nothing on it.

I know I need bigger bookcases. The one by my bed is a good size, like it fits the books without being super decorative. The two in the hall can't be taller because then they might tip over the banister. X_x The black one is definitely a space waster but it's really pretty wood and came really cheap with my desk. xD
If I buy more comics with you I probably will put them on a shelf on the black one.
The new one is going in the hall on the other side of the wall where my closet it. So opposite the stairs.
I guess I'll paint the display case, but I'd have to paint it the colour of the hall, yuck. I hate that colour, but it's what I had to paint the small bookcases too.
You know, I need to go book shopping before I visit. Need books for the plane.

you need towering bookcases like me! 8D
except not next to the stairs.
the black one is perfect for things like picture books and reference books and comics and stuff. you know, big books.
i think you are in danger of having more bookshalf space than hallway space. o_____o;;
and you don't have to paint it ugly~~~ get a matching but different color.

it's only a three hour flight. 4-5 hefty-sized books should do it. (for here and back)
just be sure not to get too many and put yourself over the weight limit. (you'll still need to take them home after you're done and i'm sure you don't want to carry them around with you.)
it's still 50lb. also, remember, i have a box of manga i don't want anymore~~~
and most importantly, you can have two carryons. a carryon bag. and a "personal item".
basically like... a duffel (that is smallish) and a purse.

See that's why the moment I get a house of my own, one room is going to have floor to ceiling wrap-around shelves. No bookcases, just a room of shelves. With a desk in the 4 feet from the back wall, and a couch... Also, one of those comfy chairs you sink into. Oh and really plush carpet. XD Probably a fake fire place too. ^_^
The black bookcase may become my comics and "large hard cover" case, I already have my huge ass art books on there.
I know no to bring to many books. Probably I'll bring one or two... or three, then use the mange I steal from you on the way home. ^_^
I was planning on using the laptop case as my carry on, but the laptop only has a two hour battery and yeah... that might just go in the suitcase. xD
The Envirothon bag might be my carry on and my new school tote bag is big, so that might become my purse (or I'll borrow someone's really big purse). xD

we should just get a house with a library in the middle, you can have one half, i'll have the other. XD <3
what i really want to do i design/build my own house with at least one full book room and hidden passageways. :3

thems what i was thinkin' big art books and stuff.
also.
BRING ME MY UGLY GODDESS. >:[
you can put the laptop in your suitcase, but the tsa check bags. and it gets knocked around a lot.
you should keep the laptop with you even if you aren't going to use it.
and on a second thought, it's going to be one of the single heaviest things you have. SUITCASE WEIGHT.

I'd have to agree with you on the ones you chose. I also like the English dub of the first season of Suyaki (but then they switched companies and the new voices were horrible). As for Bleach, you just can't get a sense of Ichigo's lazy Japanese or the characters without it being the original voice actors.

@shadow - suyaki...?
i am the worst anime fan ever. i didn't even know gurren lagann existed until the beginning of this month. XD
speaking of original japanese, i keep hearing karin call ichigo "ichi-nii" and it makes me giggle every time.

@dani - i have a kids book you are going to read when you visit. it's called the library. you will read it.
psshhhh, that's what i save things like firefly and heroes for.
if i could count all the subtitles i read in my book list, i would so be a lot farther right now. XD

ps.
DAMNITALL.
i keep hearing these beepbeepbeep sounds from really close.
JUST NOW i figured out it was beeping for weather alerts or whatever in the bleach episodes i'm watching. XD
(i can't read those kanji yet D: )

Oh! I love this idea!

I'll have to see what books I've read recently (in the last month or so) and start a list. I'm now very curious to see how many books I do read over the course of some amount of time (such as a year or 3 months, or whatever)!!

I see several people have been reading quite a bit - that's excellent! Keep up the good work, guys! There are also a few books that I should probably add to my list... (later)

*dances around and starts looking for books she just finished reading*

I'm sitting in a room surrounded by all the furniture from our living room. I'll probably get a lot of reading done in the next week or so because we're getting the floorboards fixed and then a new carpet so I'll just go upstairs out of the way. :/

I need to finish Antic Hay by Wednesday so it can go back to the library in any case.

You can certainly do a lot worse than reading books!!

So let's see... I'm going to start a list of the books I've read in the last month or so (Jan-Feb.'09):

1. Domes of Fire, David Eddings (471 pages)
2. The Shining Ones, David Eddings (472 pages)
3. The Hidden City, David Eddings (504 pages)
4. SHR, Barbara Emerson
5. EM, Donna Eden

6. currently reading: Wizard's First Rule, Terry Goodkind (836 pages)

have you been practicing?

@balze - yaaaay another person!

@dani - but books are WONDERFUL. :3

@kat - ohmygod, i know how that is. floors are evillll.

@shadow - o___o; that is a really big mess up there. XD
typing hurts us all. i always, without fail, type "from" as either "form", which doesn't even warn me because it a word, or "fmro", which is ridiculous. xp

@knerd - i think we all turn to bubbling goo at the beast's library. 8D
