A dark skinned girl walked down the beach. She assumed that this was the friend that Alex was talking about. Unfortunately when Kira looked into her eyes she saw nothing as if the girl was blind. She couldnt see completely as the girl walked up but then the girl finally addressed her. "Hi Lexi. Im sorry... um your the first human ive ever met so i guess i could say that i am a bit intrigued.... Excuse me for asking but by chance are you... blind?" She moved onto a rock that was flat and slanted so she could get a better look.

Lexi looked toward Kira smiling "Yes I am... by chance are you a siren like Alex? and don't worry I'm not like most humans who attack what they don't understand" Alex looked back and forth between the two.

Kira was hesitant about how to approach the question. She didnt know other humans but it was good to know that most attacked sirens. "I am but im more of a mermaid than what she is." She didnt want to sound offensive about it. It was actually interesting being friends with a half octopus siren seeing that they could move better on shore then she could. "No offense Alex if i did offend." She added in quickly. She smiled at Alex who was looking between the two of them.

Normally that comment would have phased her but right now it didn't as she replied "None taken" Lexi then asked Kira something "If you don't mind can I touch you?... it's how I see" she even at that age knew that it was wrong to do that but since she was blind she had an excuse froe being able to do it since it was her only form of sight.

Kira was happy that the Alex had not taken offense. It suprised her though as the human had asked to touch her. She wasnt scare but she was a little uneasy by the question. As soon as she relaxed her reply came. "If it is how you see than i dont mind one bit." She smiled quickly. "If you dont mind answering a quick question. Why do you have two fins and how are you so upright on them?" She felt silly for asking but it was a very curious question that kind of just sprang out of her like water from a whales spout.

Lexi pondered the question for a bit "Well first off they are called legs... and the things at the end of them are called feet... and as to how I stand on them... I don't know really... I just am able to" Lexi slowly moved closer to Kira and put her hands on Kira's face first "Wow you're cold" She carefully felt her face running her fingers along each crevice getting an image in her head almost as if she could see it. She started sliding her hands down Kira's arms and in between her fingers "Your fingers don't have those sail like things that Alex does" her hands moved to Kira's hips which where scaly "cool". The scales merged into skin as she ran her hands up to her waist and felt her stomach and up across her chest not kepping her hands there long but just long enough to get an image. Her hands then moved to her ribs on her side and slid back down to her hips and down along her tail to her fin. Lexi found this part interesting so her hands stayed there examing the bones that made the raised lines on her fin. She then moved away "You're very pretty Kira... as pretty as Alex" Alex tried to reply "but I'm not..." Lexi cut her off by saying "Don't say that... you are pretty... it doesn't matter what those other humans say about you being a monster... in my view you are pretty... and I'm pretty sure you'll find a male Siren who'll like you and tell you the same thing" Alex smiled and nodded "yes ma'am" Lexi replied "good" and she laughed and Alex did too.

The trio raced up to the city, and would have been gasping for breath if there had been air.
"I won!" Ari'yal burst, flipping in a small circle. Her celebration was quickly ended by a merman around her age.
"Ari'yal!" the black-scaled youth swam up worriedly. "You father has been looking everywhere for you." He cast his large black eyes over to the other boys. "And you two! Shouldn't you have something else to be doing? How dare you all take off like that!"
"It was just a small little swim," Ari'yal said, waving it off. "I asked them to come."
"They shouldn't have gone." The youth glared over at the boys. "Go home."
"Psssh," the red-headed mermaid laughed. "You're our age. You think you have the say so around here, Glave?"
Glave stiffened a bit. Grabbing Ari'yal's wrist, he shook his head. "Your father is going to be most displeased with you."
Ari'yal laughed again, the sound echoing mentally from her. "Alright. See you guys 'later,'" she smiled. With a wink, the mermaid waved, following the dark boy as he headed for the tallest tower of the city - Ari'yal's home.

Slayt raced up right behind her, stopping before he crashed into her. He stuck out his tongue flipped. As the other merman came up and began to speak, he opened his mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. As she swam away, he frowned, turning to Yokai.
"What a bossy guy, huh? Well, I'll see you around. I hope no one missed me." He smirked and swam away, heading back to where he been before. He was not excited for this- the adults were always so boring and making him do the most tedious things. They didn't know the meaning of fun anymore, nor did they try to learn it.

"What a wise guy!"said Yokai rolling his eyes.
"Okay, see you Slayt!"he said waiving and leaving to his home.
"Hi mom....where's Laria?"he asked swimming up to his mother. His mother hugged him and smiled.
"Oh, your sister is out back near the coral...."she said. Yokai nodded and went up to his room.
"Hmmm....tomorrow I must go to the trove....I'll try to get there as early as possible."he told himself laying on his bed.

Kira was a little suprised by the heat of the humans touch. It gave her a little chill. She couldnt help but feel alittle violated though she didnt show it. The girl ran her hands across her face so Kira closed her eyes. "Feet.... legs? So their not fins?" Lexi started to examin her hand with hers and commented on the nonwebbedness ((I made up the word i think)). "Like i said im not completely like Alex. But it just makes her faster than me to have the webbing." She said in a sort of matter of fact way trying to compliment Alex in the process because she knew that Alex was always made fun on in the sea by the others sometimes as well. She felt a sort of tickle as the girl moved from her hands to her waist moving up and down then to her ribs and chest area. She let out a slight laugh from it though she had tried to keep that in as well. The girl had gone down to her fin as well though she stopped and stayed for a while longer than the other parts of her body. When the girl was done she said that Kira was quite beautiful. "Thank you very much. Though you cant see it Alex she is right. You are beautiful no matter what anyone else might say. Dont forget it." Though she said it late while the other two bickered about Alex's beauty. Of course the human won. It was interesting seeing how this girl had to feel in order to see but she could understand now. She was looking for the outer beauty. Even though Lexi couldnt see the outside she saw the inner beauty by her touch. She seemed to see the beauty of everything by touch and hearing. "I have one more question. If your sight is gone, does that mean the other senses such as smell hearing touch and taste are enhanced as well?" She sort of whispered the question so that Alex and the girl couldnt quite hear it unless she did have the advanced hearing. It was a little test to see if she was right but if she wasnt she didnt mind. That just meant that she wouldnt hear the question.

Lexi nodded "Yes... compared to before anyway... Now I can feel the slightest bump or indentation... I can smell from farther away... I can hear from farther away... and my sense of taste is alot better too..." she smiled. It was true that her other senses where enhanced to near superhuman potential. She once smelled some smoke that had just started and was able to get somebody to put it out just as the smoke caught fire. She explained how she had managed to detect a fire before it started due to her sense of smell. Though she remembered she wouldn't know what fire was since she had lived underwater much like Alex.

Kira seemed a little embarrassed by the question as the girl explained things. Then she said two other words that Kira didnt know what she was talking about. "Um sorry for all the questions but whats smoke and fire. Are they bad?" She was too curious to let the question stay hidden at this time. Ever heard the saying curiousity killed the catfish? She asked herself as she looked back at Lexi. Feeling a bit dry she moved off the rock and into the water. "Sorry im just a bit dry." She said as she moved. She didnt want to scare the girl into thinking she was leaving be cause she had touched her or anything. The water felt so soothing as it washed up her body. She started to mess with her hair as she waited for the answer to the question.

The next morning, Ari'yal flit back and forth, pacing before her trove. She was early, but that was nothing new. She had to get away from her home before Glave was able to figure out she was leaving. Sighing inwardly, the syren moved to settle down on a smooth stone, sitting to wait for her friends.
Her huge green eyes scanned through the clear water, looking for signs of movement. As the minutes slowly ticked by, Ari'yal yawned. Flicking her scaled fin slowly, the young woman told herself to calm down and be patient - she could wait for the boys just fine.

Yokai sighed and told his mother he was off for a swim.
He swam off quickly but not too quickly, he didn't want to look suspicious.
As he approached the trove he noticed Ari'yal was already there.
"Oh, hello! sorry if I'm late...I guess I slept in..."he said scratching his head and smiling in embarrassment.
"Where's Slayt? You would think he's the first one here!"said Yokai approaching the siren.

Lexi explained what fire and smoke was to Kira. ((sorry brain cramp))

The story Lexi had told her had lasted all night. She was intrigued as she saw some of what she had called fire up at the village on shore. She couldnt help but feel a connection to this girl as she tried to explain it. The waves had gotten bigger as the night went on, so Kira was perfectly wet enough to stay up and listen. "So this fire that you talked about is durived from a flame. The flames and fire makes smoke which is the black clouds that go into the sky. And the flames and fire look like yellow red and orange flickering things that produces heat? I got it now." She said as smiling at the girl.

Lexi nodded "Yep and fir is not only dangerous but it can also be your friend"

Kira looked at her bewildered. Fire is a friend? But she just said it burns things till they are nothing but what they call ash. How can something so destructive be a friend. Is it because of the warmth this fire gives off? She thought about it for a minute and came to the conclusion that it was because of the heat. "Thats because of the warmth it gives off right?"

Lexi nodded "Yes that's how humans keep warm when it gets cold" ((damn writers block))

Kira thought about it for a second. She didnt exactly know what to say to humans getting warm by fire but she knew a couple pits in the see that carried bubbles of heat, so she knew what it was like to get warm. She looked towards the sun then back at Alex who had be quiet this whole time. "Hey Alex. The sun is in the east. Oh no that means weve been out all night." She said with a little distress then smiled. It hadnt been the first time she had been out all night. She looked back at lexi with her green eyes. "Lexi, I think you should be going back to your village seeing as weve been out all night. Dont want you to get in too much trouble with your family." She said with sincerity. She laughed to herself about it being morning though. Her parents hated her being out so late. She was just a troublemaker to them. She couldnt help it. Sometimes she would be out all night like this as she explored all the different places just because she had gone further out and would forget about going back in time because it was just too interesting. All the caves that were further out from the underwater city were the best ones to explore because they had the most ships and trinkets not to mention it was so mysterious what was out there.

"Yokai!"
Ari'yal swam in a quick circle about the boy, laughing.
"I thought Slayt would be here first too. But I think he might have slept in, yes?"
She grinned, her eyes twinkling.
"We can wait a little while longer for him, but I really want to go soon!"

Yokai smiled and waved.
"Hello Ari'yal, well...let's wait for another while, and if he doesn't arrive by then, we can leave."he said looking around in hopes to see Slayt arrive.
"What's the adventure for today? I forgot...sorry."he added shyly.
