Animals are killed every day in much more horrifying ways.
Anyway, I have no idea if the story is true or not I just hope things ended quickly for the little hamster. Laughing in that situation isn't evil in any way since "my hamster exploded" is something very uncommon to hear from anyone. It could have been a bad joke.

No, I actually wasn't sheltered at all, except maybe in the sense that I've never actually seen an animal die, but I haven't lived a sheltered life other than that. That makes me laugh really hard that someone thinks I have.
And I hate to see living things suffer or be hurt physically in any way. My cat broke her leg once and seeing her in pain hurt me really badly. It's not that I've been sheltered that I feel this specific way. It's that I feel empathetic and like I can feel the pain that I'm just witnessing on the outside and I hate how it feels.
And I despise death. I hate that people have to die and animals. It's unescapable, but I do not accept it, even though I've seen dead bodies and been close to people who have died.

@Racoon Chronus-- I know, right? It put a really gross picture in my mind. Just....ugh.
@Bella_Cullen-- LOL, well, that is a pretty common name. But it makes sense, it's so cute! <3 I think Charlie was the most creative of that bunch. When I was 5, one of my friends had a guinea pig named Julio. And the weirdest thing is that I could totally see it! That guinea pig was destined to be a Julio. XD Now I want to name something Julio, that's such a cool name! Perhaps my next hamster? <3
Oh yeah, I remember that! XD the worm did explode, didn't it?

Lol yeah but looking back on it, I HATE the name Pee-wee where did that come from. I am just so much more creative now that I look back on my past creations and think 'what complete crap!'.
Today I would probably name a black and white hamster(what Pee-wee was) Classic like black and white movies are or maybe even Segregation, Seg for short you know like Black and white discrimination in the 50's. That's how creative I am now.

Who doesen't? But if you concentrate too much on how bad you feel it can draw attention away from the person or animal that is actually suffering. You are propably not like that but I am just saying this because I hate it when people turn other peoples misery into their own. You saying that the story made you want to throw up reminded me of someone I knew.
That person had been in a train where another person with epilepsy had experienced seizures. She told me about it with a disgusted face and said: "If he had been sitting in the same department as me I would have started screaming"
If I was in a similar situation and someone came at me screaming and crying because they are so "empatethic" and feel my pain...I'd propably punch the person in the face. There's "empathy" and there's empathy. I hope yours is the true kind.

You mean, if that person was here talking about it, you are worried I would take the attention off of them and that I am one of those attention hogging people who need everyone to pay attention to me all the time no matter what anyone else is going through.
I must have said something really specific to trigger that because other people have said that the idea of a hamster exploding upset them, but they aren't the hamster and neither are they exploding, so it's the same thing as me.
Oh well, everyone has their specific triggers and things that upset them.
I can't convince you that I'm not that way, but I wouldn't have been so harsh on your friend. She's probably just afraid of the unknown and things that are different. Someone having a seizure in front of you isn't an everyday sort of thing, so I would have tried to help her to calmly handle it and understand that she doesn't have to be afraid of it any more than worrying about the other person's well-being. There are situations where people are self-centered and focused on themselves generally and need the guidance of seeing things from other people's perspective and there are ones where the only reason they are acting that way is that they are scared and I think she was just scared. Unless she acts that way about other things. Of course, this is all assuming that he already got medical attention and help from other people. He comes first, of course.

Because you don't have my sense of humor. You don't really get the way I'm thinking about it. You probably too serious to get why I laughed. When she told me the coversation was pretty much like this:
Her:......
Me:.....
Her: So...um...my hamster exploded yesterday. o_o
Me: O_O......... LMAO! *ehem* I'm very sorry for your loss Vanessa.. v_v
But don't worry about her. She moves on very quickly when it comes to pets. When her cat ran away from home and never came back she was pretty much like this:
Her: =_= Wow....that idiot.
I wish I was as strong as her sometimes. It would make losing something like a family pet a bit more easier...

When I saw this thread I immediately thought of that guy on YouTube who puts stuff in microwaves and explodes them.
It made me also think of Joe Cartoon and his little hamsters, that somehow a hamster exploded like a car would. XD

Gah, if someone told me that I would have to laugh a lot before I could get serious and just be "Whaaaaat? Hooow!?". After I found out or they explained I would never want a girl hamster again.
