I've been out in the sun so much lately that I almost have a tan... If I take off my glasses the freckles blur together and I can pretend! Granted, by 'tan' I mean my avatar's current skin tone instead of somewhere between the dead white and the lightest natural tone.

Yes! It is really obnoxious, isn't it? I live in the land of Oompa Loompas though - tons of tanning salons everywhere Once we drove up to a drive-thru window and the lady at the window practically glowed. I was looking for a biohazard sign until I realized it was a tan. She was orange.

Yeeeah... I always wondered how people with the orange spray tans can think they look good. It's kind of scary to me. I'd rather see someone with a natural skin tone, regardless of what color it is.

Although, I'd love to see a prank where someone went in to get a spray tan and came out looking like the Hulk...

i was at a fraternity and we had this little plastic gun that fired these soft hollow plastic pellet things. I "accidently" shot the oompa loompa when she walked in the room when we were all drinking. and she turned around and left because all the guys stuck up for me and pretended it wasn't me. xD

That is hilarious! Yes - can that color be any less natural? Egad. I remember the "tanning" lotions from the days of yore where people were turning streaky orange and, understandably, stopped using the goop. But to bake like that and pay someone for it is a whole other form of self-inflicted stupidity that I cannot understand.

Even the Oompa-Loompa tanners are better than the beef-jerky people... you know the ones. They look like the successful breeding of a human with an old leather couch.

Or good old fashioned pleather/nauga hide! I just don't understand it. Saw it frequently when I lived in California, but some of the gals in Georgia have taken the fake bake to a whole other level of cra-zay

Bahaha... the pleather comment... makes me think of school bus seats in summertime, and how they were always super-hot and stuck to your legs if you wore shorts... and I don't know where my brain is going with this except sitting on pleather people, but it amuses me.

I am laughing and visualizing right along with you! I had one friend who went to grad school in the UK and it was a complete shock to her to have to forego tanning for a few months. I think she suffered withdrawals. She is not a pleather person, but just a bit addicted.

I did not know they didn't have tanning beds in the UK... I assumed Chavs would be all about that sort of thing.

No idea - I assumed they were available in the UK so I couldn't figure out if she simply couldn't afford to do it while in school there or if the town she was in didn't have the abundance of them we see here.

Alright guys! We're holding another fundraising art auction! The rules will be a little bit different this time. Each artist will only have ONE spot to auction off, there will be an autobuy, we'll have a month of advertising followed by a short two day auction, and the artists will have a little bit more time to get the art to the winners. Libra/Clarius and I would like to have everyone who wants to be auctioned off signed up by the end of this week, though we may extend it if we don't have a good showing this week.
