Well, technically four for me. I hate Matriculation. Have to wear a suit. They tend to be way too annoyingly hot.

On the up side, i'll be able to easily carry a book or two in the jacket I have. :]

I managed to snag just about all the new accessories. Events are fun like that.

I thankfully don't have any summer reading. Everything I picked up during vacation was for my own pleasure. It makes reading a whole lot more fun during this time of year.

None of my schools ever assigned summer reading or any summer work. :]

I guess that was one good thing about them... xP

Argh. I'm envious.

Although The Catcher in the Rye is quite amusing at least. Started reading it a few weeks ago, but seem to only get through it in spurts. First sprint got me to about page 100 though. xD

I've never had summer reading either, though if I did AP I probley would have..

The Catcher in the Rye is a very good book, but some parts it like blahhh. The fact that the main character Holden curses a lot amuses me to no end XD I was the only one in my Adv. English class that liked his character too. XD

Hahah...I caved on Twilight finally like two weeks ago and I was hooked instantly. :insane:

I've already read the first three books and I've been reduced to doing chores in order to afford the final one.

It will trap you. -nod nod-

Anyway, welcome to the challenge. >__>;

I just finished reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It was good! not as "life changing" as everyone talked it up to be, but I enjoyed reading it, I really connected with the main character on a level that isn't usually there when i read most books, and there were tons of fabulous quotes that I absolutely loved.

Here's a few:
Quote:
"and all the books you’ve read have been ready by other people. and all the songs you’ve loved have been heard by other people. and that girl that’s pretty to you is pretty to other people. and you know that if you looked at these facts when you were happy, you would feel great because you are describing “unity.” "
— Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower)
Quote:
"I walked over to the hill where we used to go and sled. There were a lot of little kids there. I watched them flying. Doing jumps and having races. And I thought that all those little kids are going to grow up someday. And all of those little kids are going to do the things that we do. And they will all kiss someone someday. But for now, sledding is enough. I think it would be great if sledding were always enough, but it isn't."
— Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower)

I'm almost done with A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, and I really mean it this time. I've been trying to finish it up for a few weeks now but it just keeps going on and on. Every time I sit down to read, someone interrupts me. This weekend it will be finished, since I can't take it back to school with me. It's too heavy...

I know how you feel Knerd, I've been trying to read Meg Cabot's new book Air Head but my mom keeps coming into my room and making me do something for her. I want to get this book done before the weekend because I have to still read Wake by Lisa McMann and Looking For Alaska by John Green. Those two though I can take to school with me next week and read them.

I finally started reading 1984. I'm enjoying it so far.
I'm already familiar with some of the concepts in it (people have told me a bit about it before), so I know that I should enjoy this.
It actually reminds me a little bit of Animal Farm, in some aspects. And a bit of A Clockwork Orange in others (mostly with the Newsspeak), though that was written a few decades later.
But I enjoyed both of those books, so 1984 reminding me a bit of them isn't a bad thing.

Also, I've decided to put off continuing reading Great Expectations for now. There's nothing wrong with it, I just don't really feel like reading it right now. It's better than I set it aside and read something else than read nothing or force myself to read a book that I don't want to read.

Well, no. It seemed interesting, it's just not what I'm in the mood for right now, you know? And I didn't make it far enough in to get really hooked.

And yay for BD! :D

(By the way, nice sig. That's a good song.)

That's ok. I've never actually read it, so I certainly wouldn't be the one to point fingers at you for not finishing or not liking it. xDD

Yay for Breaking Dawn and YAY for no more bloody chores! ;D -throws stupid mop into a wood chipper- xD

Yeah, I love that song. ^^
And I've become addicted to listening to The Wall during the past couple of days. x.x

I actually don't have The Wall. *shot* A friend of mine sent the song file to me when I was getting into Pink Floyd. All I have is Wish You Were Here. It's a really good one, but I'd like to get The Wall someday.

Like I said, it's not that I don't like it, and I am going to finish it. I just wanted to read something else right now. ^^

I'm about halfway through 1984 right now. Really enjoying it. ^^ I like that Julia is very flawed and imperfect.
Very refreshing after reading so much Twilight! XD
