I had a bf once who loved the chronicles of riddick... I never saw it though. :S

No, its not one of those...its something new...
Like, I think...he's a mercenary or something? and there's this girl....from....Russia? And he's supposed to transport her somewhere, but there are people after them? And apparently she's dangerous...? And then maybe he falls in love with her, or at least there was a scene in a preview and they were kissing.
Dammit I wish I could remember the name of it! D:

Sounds like... Bond. xDDD

Lemme look on wiki.
This? It's the only movie he's done this year.

You may not want to see it.
Quote:
Director Mathieu Kassovitz was very unhappy with the distributors, 20th Century Fox, producers and other partners. He described the film as "pure violence and stupidity" and stated that "parts of the movie are like a bad episode of 24."

As of September 13, 2008, Rotten Tomatoes records a 6% positive rating, while Metacritic compiles a 26% rating based on 15 reviews.

I was always a sci-fi tv nerd growing up. My dad loves escapist tv, and we watched those shows together. Original Star Trek is great with him, because he always talks about how high he was when that episode originally aired.

You can't prove that there was any illegal substance in that hookah! It was just water tobacco, I say!

I was thinking along the lines of the "Eat Me" and "Drink Me" treats, and the two sides of the mushroom that made Alice grow larger or shrink.

I'm so excited!

I've signed up for LibraryThing's early reviewers program and today I got my first free book in the mail:
Iraq Through A Bullet Hole: A Civilian Returns Home by Issam Jameel.

I can't wait to start it.

Has anyone seen the original Star Trek episode with the White Rabbit? Everyone knows that story is drug related.

I finished Syrup today.
It's amazing how fast you get through a book when you're actually enjoying it. xD

But seriously, it was a great book. I'm definitely going to get the rest of his stuff.

Hmm...book lists sound fun. I used to keep one, but it just fizzled because I missed a few books and stopped out of frustration. I believe I'll simply start listing after I finish the book I'm currently reading.

The back says:

Quote:
Iraqi playwright Issam Jameel returns from Iraq in the summer of 2005 after a 12-year exile. From the relative safety of Jordan, where he worked for an opposition radio station under the watchful eyes of Saddam's spies, he travels by car to Baghdad visit family and friends. He longs to see his mother country, but the immediate reason is to grieve his nephew's untimely death at the hands of American forces while guarding an Iraq parliament member from insurgent attacks.

Jameel enters a Kafkaesque nightmare of assassinations, kidnapping, and explosions. American soldiers are everywhere in the streets and ready to shoot whenever they feel danger is close. He sees the formerly secular civil society fairly well replaced by vehement sectarianism, intolerance, and ignorance. Basic human needs have become a endless daily struggle amidst the shards of infrastructure. Tasks we all take for granted, such as selling a house or getting a job are fraught with peril as old scores continue to be settled on religious, ethnic, and political fronts. Everywhere he turns, people are desperate to leave but fear the worst. After returning safely, he started to record the events he had seen, trying to be honest and impartial to unfold the Iraqi problem to the western community. This is his story.
Yeah, it's a mouthful. But that's all I know about it - I haven't had the chance to start reading it yet.

Oh, cool, you want to read Syrup! :D

I'm not sure how difficult to find it may be, though. I don't think his books are very well-known. You may have to go online.

I'm not quite so sure how to list the books I've read this year.
Do I put them in a quote or what?
O.o

Help please!
Dx

PS: I'm not meaning to brag, but I finish books quite quickly.
Almost oddly so, according to most people I know; teachers included.
And as strangely unlikely as it seems, I do keep a list of the books I read and in what order, it's in a word-document actually.
So can I just post them all here?

No, you don't need to put the list in quotes. (Right Knerd?? xD; )

I think that's fine, as long as you end the challenge from whatever day you started that list. :]

Cool, I started sometime in March, or at least that's the date on the list.
