Guivre, just start now.
Set a reasonably high goal for yourself and aim to finish it by next November.

That way you can still have fun and get some support from everyone here. :yes:

You don't have to limit yourself to 50 if you know that you can read more.

The point of the challenge is to push yourself - Think of a high number that might be kind of tough to reach. That's where the fun starts!

Six more books and I'll be finished for this year. ^-^
I kinda feel like it's cheating though if most of the books on the list have been reread. =/

Don't worry Kearin, I've been counting rereads too. :XD

But I see no reason not to add them to my list. It takes time to read them over again, I enjoy picking them up, and I always seem to find some new detail that I never noticed in the writing before. Since I'm discovering something new every time I look through them, they deserve to be listed.

Hmmm... I feel guilty about my rereads too. I generally reread if a book is wonderful and edifying, if I haven't read it in a very long time, or if there is a movie coming out based upon the book.

School also tends to incite rereading. :yes:

... I can't help it, I'm curious! Which two books, Thoth?

Before Twilight, the only book I had ever reread was some tiny little Mary Kate and Ashley adventures book when I was like, 8. xD

I normally find it very tedious.

@Aislin: No. This is the first Sci-fi book I've read, as I usually stick with Fantasy, Horror or Biographies. I think it was easy to follow as I've been playing the game it is related too for a couple of months now, so it seemed familiar for me.

Saying that though I am playing to read a few more Sci-fi books for my Challenge. I'm trying to get hold of some Red Dwarf books - The TV Series rocked! :3

@dani - because you have books that i don't? XD
also the graveyard book is pretty awesome. uhm. yeah? xp

@aislin - why, yes i do like to be called leenie. :3
it's my irl nickname i've held since elementary school. @_@;;
and i'm pretty certain i'll love inkheart. i also got inkspell as well to read as soon as i was done with it.

@general - i have a lot of books i need to reread, just because i remember loving them, but have completely forgot most of the plot, which would have been from middle school or earlier. and therefore would have been more than five years ago, wow. @_@
like the water trilogy and the claidi journals and the abhorsen series. and some other books.
i can't check my bookshelves for another week and a half because i'm at dani's~~ (and she doesn't know i'm awake yet, mwahahaha)

@Thoth: Thankies! I added Genome to my To-Do list, since it looks pretty interesting. And LOTR=:heart:

@Willow: Red Dwarf! Brilliant! I've loved that show since I was a teeny-tiny, and I have some of the DVDs. I watch them over and over again. It's a series that my family likes, also, so I've seen every episode about a zillion times. And it never gets old! :boogie:

I'm not sure if Red Dwarf books would be as good, since they're only based on the series... Sometimes that doesn't work out. Let me know if you find any you like! If you're looking for sci-fi and enjoy irony and humor, I recommend The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams) and Wyrd Sisters (Terry Pratchett). Hitchiker's is especially funny.

@Leenie: I'm trying to avoid spending cash on new books, so I haven't read Inkspell yet. I'm going to try and get through at least one shelf of books, first. :sweat:

@aislin - my uncle gave me his copy of the ultimate hitchhiker's guide for a graduation present? XD
just because i said i had been wanting to read it forever. so it's sitting on my shelf, waiting for me to read it. :[
&&; i work at barnes&noble so it's hard to avoid getting books. especially because i work in kids and teen is attached to that. but we get a %30 discount on books, so it's cool. =D

@hotcharm - the third one is coming out in fall 2009, if you want to look for it next year.
and there may or may not be a movie based on the books coming out? the author has written a script for it, anyway.

@dani - nevaaarrrrr. <3<3<3

Cheers for the welcome. :]

Knerd, I will do, I'm enjoying it so far, but I have a way to go yet, so will see.

Aislin, I'm reading it for pleasure, or rather, because my Grandad gave it to me (along with a bunch of other books) and it looked quite interesting heh.

I read a few pages of the bible earlier, at the request of somebody. (On an online game whatsit, of all things. :P) Interesting but a tad odd.

- Oof, tirethminet, I don't suppose you know of any barnes&noble shops in England do you? A 30% discount on books..

@Leenie: Heh, the fear of compulsively buying books is one of the reasons I haven't applied for work at a bookstore, yet. I'm bad enough as it is! But the 30% discount sounds lovely.

Hitchiker's is wonderfully quirky. I think you'll like it, when you have the time for it. Although the ending of the last novel is... frustrating? Funny? I can't tell which, honestly, and I've reread the series twice. I have the shiny, leatherbound B&N addition. :angel:

Wierdly, I also got my copy from my uncle.

@Blahrrgh: Aww... I love it when grandparents recommend books. :)

@Aislin I only recently got into the whole Red Dwarf thing and thats thanks to my Boyfriend. He is a big Sci-fi fan and loves that show. I'm up to season 3 I think at the moment, seeing as we watch a couple sometimes when we're at his place!

As for the books, I gathered they would be based on the series but I still wouldn't mind reading a couple, just to see what they're like. As for Hitchhiker's Guide has always got me wondering if its good to read. My Tutor loved the book and is always quoting from it at College.

With that said, one book nearly complete so...
-=Goes back to reading!=-

My parents love Red Dwarf, especially my dad. He was always trying to get me to watch it when I was younger but it didn't really make sense until one day I suddenly thought "Wow, this is amazing!". I have the Red Dwarf novels and I have one of Robert Llewellyn's (Kryton) books too.

I have a very old copy of the 'trilogy of five parts' of the Hitchhiker's Guide. I love the h2g2 BBC TV series, it's more faithful to the radio show than anything else. The film was good, but it was more loosely based on the characters and the events than anything that Adams actually wrote. XD

I read the "Trilogy" back in high school, so most of the details escape me right now. I just remember enjoying the first 3 books and kind of shrugging off the last two. His novels were never Adam's strong point.

But I just finished reading 'Don't Panic: Douglas Adams & The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' by Neil Gaiman, and it was wonderful! It certainly helped me understand the progression of the storyline better.
And it's making me drool over the radio show.
