@dani - who gave you that shirt, omg. XDDD
you know, your cousin would probably respond with something like "well edward is almost 100 years older than bella"
@cherry - truth, but i would just read it there. :3

I feel ill from that picture. (I completely hate body hair, makes me grossed out.)
@Leenie: thank Kimm for that. I told you it was amazingly awesome!
I don't think my cousin would actually fight me on the whole "He's 20 and a superstar, you're 12 and obsessive." Though she'd just be like "Leave me my dreams!" Which is fine. Some how my cousin became intellectual. xD The 14 year old is slightly better with Edward... On the other hand the both own 3 hardcover copies of all of the Twilight series. X_x
Edit: Woman! Where are my books!?!?
Edit 2: I really can't type or properly proofread tonight... U_U

So who here have I NOT gotten to read a Max Barry book?
Whoever hasn't needs to go buy Syrup right now because it's the best book ever and I don't care that that's a poor generalization or that this sentence is poorly punctuated this sentence will go on for however long I feel like making it go without punctuation because goddammit it's 12:04 and I had sugar today and I'm not used to that.

lol.. as long as you don't start with " the song that doesn't end" I'll overlook the sugar buzz ;)

Fearless? >> Is that a series or just one book? I read a series called Fearless that I absolutely loved, but I've never met anyone else who read it.

I love Alice. Alice and Esme were my favourites. :3

XD Rpattz is gross looking. I mean...what's going on with his hair? He looks like he's been shocked!
Edward is way too old for Bella. ._. And he doesn't even act like it. He acts like a whiney kid, which bugs me. Hence, another reason why I love Jacob.

@ Leenie: We might be twinnish!
Alice is definitely my favorite in the Twilight series. Since my state constitution doesn't allow marriage to imaginary characters, I settled for dressing up as her at the Barnes and Noble Breaking Dawn release-- and won the contest, plus a huge black tent of a t-shirt thing. So now I can actually say, "I suffered through over 700 pages of Breaking Dawn and all I got was this stupid T-shirt!"
Vampires don't have sperm! And Alice disappeared for a billion chapters... The t-shirt is really nice to sleep in, though.
Iif you're interested in Merlin, you can view it online here-- the episodes are listed out of order, but you're fine so long as you start at one and end at thirteen.
@Shadowfoot: I really want to read The Graveyard Book! I have a giftcard now, so I may be able to justify buying it. Have you looked at Gaiman's website? His publisher is offering promotional prizes for people who do something to get others reading the book. If you start a book-club, you may be able to get a signed poster. :)
@ Dream: Awwww.... will you try Jennifer Government if I make sad puppy face?
@ Bishie of Lurf Awesomeness: Yes yes yes!
The Fearless series by Francine Pascal. First read them when I was thirteen, but didn't get through all of them so I must-- must, mind you-- read them all again. And I know that they're kind of at the level of pixie sticks on the "not nourishing" scale but I just... can't... help...
'Cause, you know, femme-y badass and her skate-punk friend take on mucho butt-kicking... how can one not love this? It's like Buffy without the vampires. You have to dig it. And the walking. I think the walking book-- with legs and all-- is where I stopped last time.
Did you get through the entire series? Apparently there's a secondary series now, too. How did I miss this?
:glomp: I'm not alone! :boogie:
Happy Hols, everyone!

Aislin: :D SWEET! Someone else who reads them!
I didn't get through the whole series, either, so I'm planning on trying to collect them all and read them again. I've noticed, yeah, there seems to be a new series, too, but I haven't read them yet.
Gaia is just....Oh, God, she's amazing. I freaking love her!

Yes, she is awesome! Also kind of hilarious and generally bizarre-- which makes me empathize, even though I cannot kick of the tush. I decided that I liked Gaia from the moment when she declared Rapunzel's need for a ladder. She is, strangely, also a pretty neat role-model. I like the whole tough-girl bit. She's self sufficient without necessarily having to be 100% isolated.
Ed is also a sweetie. I like Sam, I do, and have nothing against him. But Ed! How couldja not love that invariably sweet scrap of a guy?
I'm glad that you're rereading them too! The only difficulty is the expense-- when I had access to a well-stocked library, it didn't occur to me just how long the series is.
Keep me updated, when you get your copies! We can compare notes. :P

*laughs* Have you looked at Amazon? You can get them used for relatively cheap. :3
But, yeah, I read them at the library too. o: It is a really long series.
Ed is the sweetest thing ever! It's so funny reading those two go back and forth. ^^
XD When I first started reading the series, I wanted to be just like Gaia.

They are relatively cheap on Amazon! That's where I've been ordering them from. Nevertheless, I stumbled across a problem:
Relatively Cheap x 25 books = not so relatively cheap.
Haven't yet figured out how to solve that one, because I burn through the books like dime candies. But nooooo dimes.
I didn't necessarily want to be exactly like Gaia, but I definitely wanted to develop her strength-- her physical strength and her strength of will. Plus she doesn't notice her own idiosyncrasies a lot of the time, which makes me laugh.
Did you ever have a tough-girl heroine phase? Gaia was in mine.
As far as I can tell, actually, that phase never ended. I've got a list of those heroines going now.

I buy a lot of them too-- but that worries me. College is coming up rapidly, and I'm self-dependent, so I'm trying to reduce the amount of cash I spend by a severe amount. Hence my decision that, for 2009, I'm not going to buy a single book unless it's with a gift card (and for X-mas and birthdays, bookstore giftcards pour in like rain after the fat lady has sung). School books don't count, of course.
So I'm pondering the disparate costs of book purchases versus a transit cost to the library two cities over.
I'd love to avoid fear also, but I've found that merely not responding to the feeling until later works out alright. Actually having the fear is useful, though, because it's a part of intuition that alerts you to danger.
Now the superpowers in addition to the postponement/eradication of fear... then we'd be in business. And I'd so do the strolling through cities at night bit. Ooooooh, yes.
That's what I love about Gaia. She projects a weak aesthetic to predators, and then veritably hands them their reproductive organs on a platter-- all in the name of good. :)

Oooh, I'm eating less food too. Are you kidding me? That's the first to go. No more clothes except hand-me-downs either. I'd never give up buying new books if I thought that would mean no reading, though-- but my friends and I have a huge collection between us, so I'm alright.
Hee. I just recently learned to adore Wonder Woman. :P
I walk a lot at night too, actually.
I just need the martial arts training to go along with it. ;)
What's your opinion on buying versus borrowing books? I prefer to own books, which is my problem. I go a tad nuts when I can't reread a book... lend a book... look up a reference in my favorite books... display particularly shiny books in prominent spaces around my room...

Oooh, yay! Which kind? And which kind would you recommend me taking up? I have a friend who thinks I should take karate classes, and another who swears by jujitsu because of the weapons training element.
When I borrow a book and it's good, it gets added to my "to purchase" list. Then I roam library booksales. I figure it's a filtering process. :P
I've always found it nearly impossible to let go of books, though. Even when entering trade-a-book establishments, even with terrible books, letting a novel go is like pulling teeth.

Oh, I know! I keep all my books, even ones I know I will never read again.
I've done a few...I did Tae-Kwan-Do for a while, which I really enjoyed. I've also taken Karate and Judo. I think it depends a lot on what you like to do. Judo was fun because of the flips and such, but it was really hard for me to do because I'm smaller and have weak joints (Which makes it hard to support any extra weight). Karate was something I really enjoyed in general because I could do the moves without any trouble and they were fun. I'm not a big weapons fan, though, because I think fights should be hand-to-hand and that weapons don't belong in martial arts.
Like I said, though, it really depends on what kind of styles you like and what body type you have. :3
One book you should try out (I got this from my library and haven't bought it yet, though I plan to) is The Dark Light. It's an amazing book--one of my favourites.
