@Paperback vs. Hardback - I kinda understand why alot of people would prefer the paperback, I like them myself, but I find that it is easier for me to have hardbacks because 1) they don't fall apart, or get ruined, as easily, 2) they are easier to take care of, and 3) it's fun and easy to stack/organize them . . . But then again, this is just me talking. Plus, my dad has rubbed off on me a liking of first edition and signed hardbacks.
But, I like paperbacks for traveling because they are easy to carry and whatnot. But, I find that I always have to find the hardback version too . . . I know I'm crazy . . .

Haha, maybe the fact that I read them more than once could be it, but that wouldn't explain the first-time books, even the poor quality ones XD
Maybe there's just something about my skin.
I hate it when books get lost. My set feels incomplete ;_;
Alaunt:.Hardbacks are definitely easier to stack, and they look better on my shelf, stacked horizontally on top of each other, or just standing the way they're supposed to >w<

I don't know why . . . But it feels as if my first two points are the exact same and just rephrased . . . it wasn't supposed to be like that. Oh well. ^-^

If that's the case, I was really bad at noticing, or I just can't remember XD
*rereads*
I see what you mean, although the first is more about the book itself, and the second is more about the environment the book is found in? In this case, I suppose it would include the owner and anyone else who touched it? >w<;

Well, I guess that is true. ^-^ I was going more with pages falling out and the spine cracking in the first one and dustjacketing and folded covers in the second . . .

Plat:: I know. ;-;
I've lost two of my books from the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton and it really makes me upset. Because that's my favorite series right now.
But I have no idea what could've happened to them. I lost them when I was moving in and out of my house this summer, into my nana's house and back. ><

PlatinumChild knows how I feel about hardcover books. >w<
But, I can't always afford them/I love the old tamora pierce book covers so I have a lot of paperbacks as well (except for, of course, the Harry Potter Series.)

I went to the local bookstore a while ago and they have this amazingly pretty hardcover book for Pride and Prejudice, and another one of her books..
It wasn't an illustration, it was more of a combination of older-looking covers with some classy graphic design work. I want it. I don't have my own copy of Pride and Prejudice yet ;_; (the one I read belonged to my school)

@kat - i actually dug out my old copy of coraline to read because i found out in nov/dec that the movie was coming out in feb and i was like "GAWSH, I HAVE TO READ THAT."
@PBvsHC - i think you all will enjoy this.
paperbacks are just easier for me to deal with. there are rare cases i will get hardcovers, which mostly have to deal with a book i need to read now or a book by a favourite author, and usually the two requirements come together.
@kitami - yes, i hunt gay-haters. XD<3
and i've been doing the same thing all day today. well, i do read words wrongly a lot, but today, it was pretty noticeable.
@cherry - i got jennifer government at work today! i really wanted to get syrup, but it seems that they did not have that one. D:
ps
now i just need to find time to read. then again, it shouldn't be that hard. because of hour issues at work, i don't have any hours until at least the 24th (which is the last day they have posted so far. @_@)
then again, this is leaving me time to clean my room and work on a costume for otakon (yay). but 19 days is a good chunk of time to have to myself. :]
'course, i still need to get over whatever sick coldness i have right now. imagine a big scary dog with a deep bark. that's me. @_@;;;;;

That poor book...
I remember when I used to be obsessed with Manga and I lent them out to people, I would snap at them if the binding was creased. I was mean when I was younger :lol:

I need to keep track of how many people I've gotten to read his books. I'm getting curious.

Random fact: I showed that comic to a friend. He threatened to break a hardcover in half, and right after, his internet connection started acting funny. XD

@Cherry
Well, I'm probably going to read the book soon too, but it isn't because of you. I've been curious about his writing ever since I started playing NationStates a few years ago. :XD
Edit: Dammit, I just wasted about 10 minutes reading through xkcd comics I've already wasted time reading through. Why would you show me that link?!

Knerd - Yeah, I remember you mentioning that you had bought it but not read it a while ago.
Have you played Nationstates 2 yet? I don't play, but my boyfriend does. He says it's a lot more complicated and challenging, but he's into that sort of thing.

No, I haven't had the chance to check it out.
But I spend so much time online that I really don't need another excuse to play games. :XD

Knerd - I know the feeling. xD
There are plenty of fun games I could get into, but right now I'm balancing Mene and Avarcia on top of Facebook and I'm still trying to have some kind of existence away from the computer (unsuccessful thus far), even if it just consists of doing housework, drawing, writing and reading. xD;
Dream - Yay! :D
EDIT: OKAY, EVERYBODY.
I'm officially now keeping a list of people that I've gotten interested in and/or gotten to read Max Barry books. So please let me know if I've gotten you to do either. Kthnx.
Click the avatar art in my sig ("YOU'RE! NOT YOUR!") in my sig at any point to see my book list/Max Barry converts list.

@dani - well, uhm, errr...
also, do you still want the paperback of the bad beginning?
@jenova - the only real thing that would make me hurt people it if the pages are bent or any part of the book is missing (ripped). i am still a little bothered at a friend who borrowed by sandman volumes and returned the second one all water-wrinkled. >:[
@knerd - teehee, OOPS. <3
ps.
i left the tissues downstairs. ::sniffle::
and i need tea. and cream-flavored ice cream.

I haven't really been active in here for a while, real life caught up with me D: But I'm back! Reading two books simultaneously now >.> I didn't want to, it just sort of happened. It's the 4th Twilight book and a book about how the islam undermines europe. It's incredible what we don't get to see on the news.
For example: If a non muslim would set foot into Mekka he'd get shot (seriously.) but if a Christian person won't let a muslim into a church for whatever reason they immediately get called racists.
That book scares the crap out of me. My ex-boyfriend, the nicest man I've ever had the pleasure to meet is a muslim so please do not think I'm a racist, not ALL muslims are bad, but what they demand from the politicians of countries is stunning and more stunning yet is that politician's cave into those demans more often than not because they don't want to be called racists.
It's a great read, however very hard to stomach and even though I've worked for a muslim, was friends with muslims and had a muslim boyfriend it's incredibly hard to stay unbiased once you find out so much that everyone tries to keep hidden.

@ Platinum: I've gotten creases on the spine because my friends would open the books until they were flat, or thinking they were regular paperbacks, would bend them in half. Then the pages would start falling out and I'd get angry.

Dream and Die:. Right? He better not do it again. I warned him~
Cherry:. Put me on the interested list!
Jenova:.That's awful ;_; I would have made them buy it for me again, if I had the sense. I know it's mean, but that's MY book they're mistreating. I would have laid down the ground rules, too. ._.
About The Host: I love the Wanderer and Melanie as a pair are fun to read, both the nice and the not-nice comments.
Jared is a butthead. He's like the new Jacob (I haven't gotten past Eclipse) for me.
Jamie is adorable.
I HATE the Seeker. Hate her hate her hate her hate her.
I'm still only 200 pages into this thing, but that's okay.
I love Jeb. Jeb is funny.

Unfortunately I did mean driving. I don't live in Wyoming, but I do live in a large town that used to be a small one. Our amenities haven't caught up yet with the growth of the town. We don't have a movie theater either. (although we used to, but both the drive through and the 2 screen theater went out of business before I was old enough to remember).
