I was going to wait until the next page so it's not full of my whining about it. ^^;

It rains all the time here because I live about a mile away from the North Sea. During both of the only reasonable lengths of time I spend 'dahn Sarf' there's been a thunder storm.

I like snow but its been snowing on and off all week so under the layer of 4 inches of snow is that crusty ice/snow which hurts. There's enough on the ground to be fun, so it can stop now. I just got in from shoveling my driveway and by the time I got to the end, the beginning had about 4 cm of snow again. T_T

@Gray: So much snow. @_@ I decided to shovel the rest tomorrow, but my dog and I made show angels in the driveway. xD

@leenie: Yeah, it's stopped now.

The library called and my books are finally in!! Unfortunately when I got there (after walking in the snow) it was closed on account of the weather. T_T

The roads were pretty bad, hence why I walked instead of drove to the library. Its just that, they called me this morning. Why call and say I can come get books then less then an hour later be closed. It was already snowing so they had to know they were going to shut down.

Its just that classes resume tomorrow and I really want a book in case I get there really early (I have to find my rooms).

I've never heard of my library closing.. Hehe.
Only during holidays, which is normal.~
Plus, it's like a freaking heat wave outside! I swear, it's at least 30 degrees out there. I took off my jacket walking home- I was sweating.
Anyways, anyone have a good book to share about something wintry? >>

Weird, I could have sworn that you had already started the challenge, Kat. I don't know why I 'remembered' adding your list to the front page.

I'm cracking up, guys. :drool:

But, in good news, I finished A River Runs Through It.
Truly an amazing story. I hate that I never read it before now, I would have fallen head over heels for it just a few years ago.

@Rainbows: If by wintry you mean snow and ice. Then yes, The Snow-Walker trilogy but Cathrine Fisher (my book is newish and is only called The Snow-Walker, but it's all three). If I remember correctly it's Young Adult/Teen but its was a good read. At least for me, but I have weird tastes. xD
Quote:
From the swirling mists and icy depths beyond the edge of the world came the snow-walker Gudrun, to rule the Jarl's people with fear and sorcery. But a small band of outlaws are prepared to risk their lives to defeat Gudrun and restore the land to its rightful leader. This trilogy follows them in their quest, from the first terrifying journey to meet the mysterious snow-walker's son, to the final battle in the lands beyond the rainbow bridge...

o____o

I must say, this does seem like an awesome thing to start, especially since I'm new. I have most likely read much more then 50 books in a year, since I am a book fanatic. I ready everyday. I can only read romance is what seems to be my problem. I don't get into anything else but that. I am very much into vampires as well. I wish I knew what books to read that have these combination's. I have read the twilight serious, have started when the book first came out 4 years ago. Since that has come to an end, I find myself having nothing to read. So I'm wondering, before I start this challenge, does anyone have any suggestions?
edit; Also any good mid-evil romance is nice as well. c:

Medieval romance novels? Well, as much as I hate to admit it, I read one recently that was a real page turner. It was called "Her Warrior Slave", and it's a Harlequin Historical novel. That might be a good place to start.

Thank you very much. I will have to make sure to pick that one up.

I really am in need of a good book. Since I am in fact a loser, and am only into romance novels, it's hard to find a good read. Most of them are kind of, how do I put it? I can't find the right work for it. -__-

Well, most romance novels read like a porn. They're an extremely guilty pleasure.
If you want some meaty good reads, look into His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (It's the Golden Compass trilogy), and another good trilogy is the Inkheart/Inkspell/Inkdeath trilogy by Cornelia Funke. And I love Tamora Pierce's novels, I had a whole list of them somewhere in the thread. I'll post the link once I find my list.

Edit: Here it is!

I just got a load of books yesterday, ones I've been dying to read and excited for. Specially "Are you there vodka? It's me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler", I've read the first chapter online and have been wanting to read it for quite sometime. Also got 'Collected Poems of Emily Dickinson' cause I've been dying for some poetry and Dickinson is one of my favorites : )

Books are always better than movies. I'm not sure how Inkheart is going to go over with people, probley fans of the book going to see it too see what they cut out and how they did things.

I would disagree, even the graphic ones read like romances. You probably haven't read enough porn novels. Shockingly, they read like porn.

Not like you'd want to, but I've read quite a few for professional reasons. :stare: That is not to say I did not find a couple 'fun'.

I like romances to a point. They know their genre. They know their audience. On You know what you're going to get on page 100, 150. They tie themselves in with brands, like "NASCAR." They have lines of titles with "secrets" where you find out a terrible secret about one of the lovers in the middle of the book, or titles based on Cinderella, or any number of gimmicks. They come out as frequently and consistenly as magazines. You have authors who write under five or more pen names. I dunno, pretty fascinating in their own way.
