Knerd: I've been posting since my challenge start date, I just asked for a few days to lurk about and post before I committed myself and ended up just making my list in my myspace blog and updating it there. :/
Tireth: Yep, Astrotruckers. It was another book I was prepared to attempt to learn Swedish for if they didn't hurry up with translating it.
Romance novels: I love laughing the Mills and Boon romance books. In the Newcastle WHSmith they have a whole shelf of titles like "The Greek Tycoon's Disobedient Bride". I wonder what that one's about...

I do love a lot of the books better than their movie counterparts. Although I have yet to read the twilight movie so I do not know how close it is to the book but I do love me some sparklie vampires.

My friend told me when she was on the bus last night she'd seen a man who was 'at least thirty' reading Twilight. Nobody is safe. ;_;

@Cherry:: lol you'd would think so, I'm sure it will mention some alcohol incidents in it. This is what the inside flap said:
Quote:
When Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power--vodka. Welcome to Chelsea's world--a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense. In this collection, Chelsea mines her past for stories about her family, relationships, and career that are at once singular and ridiculous. Whether she's convincing her third-grade class that she has been tapped to play Goldie Hawn's daughter in the sequel to Private Benjamin, deciding to be more egalitarian by dating a redhead, or looking out for a foulmouthed, rum-swilling little person who looks just like her, only smaller, Chelsea has a knack for getting herself into the most outrageous situations.

@romance novels - yeah, i wouldn't go so far to say that romantic novels are porn, because they aren't. pornographic, maybe, but not porn.
@kat - you should probably learn swedish anyway. XD
what was astrotruckers about?
@jessie - you can read movies? that's a neat trick. 8D
@thoth - YOU HAVEN'T BEEN HERE IN FOREVER. >:[
ps.
gawsh, i have to read. but. movies! T_T
i just went to work today and got the first four seasons of x-files, pride and prejudice 2005 movie special edition, repo! the genetic opera, and steamboy.
odd assortment? NOT AT ALL. 83 actually, the p&p is the only weird one out of them.

o.o Sounds really good~ I think I'll find it and read it next time I'm at the library with my card. :3 Thanks for the suggestion!

No problem! xD
@Romance Novels: Whoever said they read like porn. I totally envisioned a book with the plot as follows:
- Girl orders Pizza
- Man delivers
- Girl answers door in underwear
- Girl has no money
- Man gets "paid" another way.
I couldn't stop laughing because I was imagining pages and pages of really corny dialog. XD

Tireth: Pfft, I have enough trouble with English.
I've seen Astrotruckers described as the Swedish Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy but it's a little unfair to say every funny book set in space is a wannabe h2g2. There's no real story running through the book (until the final few chapters) it's just random little excerpts from the life of an 'astrotrucker'. I enjoyed it anyway, but I really loved Niemi's writing style from Popular Music. I think it's the same reason I love Simon Armitage so much; poets have a way of writing that makes me feel like I'm dreaming.
Anyway, disregard my rambling. There's an extract here. ^^
+ I need a new keyboard, some of the keys are getting quite hard to push down. Gah.

My keyboard is just the cheap one that came with my computer. Half the letters have came off the keys so I guess it's a good job I don't need to look at them.
The space bar is being annoying. I need to start using longer words. XD

its funny because some of the most famous books are made in to movies so inadvertently I am reading a movie. xD I've read a lot of the books that have movie counterparts. Sometimes I think the movie version is better than the book version and sometimes I think the book version is better than the movie version.

Wouldn't that be watching a book, because the book came first? xD I'd think reading a movie would only happen if a completely original movie was turned into a book (I thought about this too long).
Though I like a lot of the movies they make off of books, I have yet to find one where I like the movie counterpart better.

They have book adaptations of movies. Like, today on the shelf I saw one of the most recent Indiana Jones film.
Usually they're really bad, though.

Hello everyone!
Back after a long while. Went on trips and am currently in the middle of finals... It's fun.
I added the first six Fearless books to my list, as well as President (yay!yay!yay!) Barack Obama's Dreams from My Father. The latter of which was excellent, by the way.
Happy Wednesday! Howsit?
