Menewsha Event Lovers United Winter Nights Event Hangout!
If you don't know what mELU is, you can visit: mELU home base for more information or to join!

This hangout thread is for those of us Menewshans who cannot get enough of the events! We wish there was one every day! But more specifically, for the celebration of the Festival of Winter Nights (duh - obviously it wouldn't be here if not!)

Chatting is welcome, but remember to ALWAYS follow Menewsha's rules first and foremost!

Group Rules are as follows:
01. Always, ALWAYS follow Menewsha rules before any user created ones. They’re tops.
02. Discussion is permitted, argument is not.
03. Keep up with the tradition and don’t flame!
04. Be polite. If someone is bothering you, don’t let it get the best of you.
05. Proper grammar is wonderful; please use it IF POSSIBLE. We realize that not everybody uses English as their default language.
06. Never trash the events! That completely defeats the purpose of being a member of this thread. You can have opinions, but please express them in a mature way!
07. On the subject of maturity, please be so.
08. When events go down, please keep counts to a minimum.
09. You must have fun or else!
10. YOU MUST HAVE FUN or ELSE.
11. Please respect other members.
12. This is a lot of rules, huh?
13. Secret rule will be revealed eventually.
14. ????
15. Profit!

Currently no contests, or promotions.
If you'd like to donate prizes or ideas to the cause, let me know!
(I am currently considering holding a small art contest for a winter [not Christmas, though, WINTER] design of mELU girl {as seen here: http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv252/kisabella/elu/sidebar.png}

As stated in rules 9 and 10: YOU MUST HAVE FUN OR ELSE, and as always... ENJOY THE EVENT!

To be honest, the secret rule is EVEN secret to me. Lol. But I guess YOU BETTER HAVE FUN OR ELSE is very plausible.

Wow, as much as I love events, I think they hate me - Celes Paradi, one of my heroes died; Halloween, I ended up in the hospital; now my work situation is going entirely insane. xD;;;

But whatever - even if they hate me, I will always be an event lover. <3

This event...confused me at first when I saw the forum layout, but it's so pretty. |D

BAW, rule 12 to the extreme.
;s
Most of them are irrelevant.
It's only 1, 9, and 10 that truly matter.

And hello! ^__^

Yeah, a lot of bad circumstances. :[
I'm really feeling lazy this event. Posting will be difficult. Lol.

I'm actually horribly glad it's not Christmas related so far.
It means I can participate without feeling guilty.

Because I do not celebrate Christmas, nor do I really endorse the celebration of it. ^^;;

I haven't seen it yet but I really want to! I'm so happy that Disney finally made another cartoon movie :)

So am I.
When it started, I almost ended up bawling with how utterly happy I was that Disney went back to basics.

I feel the same! I've had enough of this Pixar junk. I've heard they're going to do a Rapunzel but I don't see how they're going to get past the part where she plucks the eyes from his head.

Oh, I am sorry. :<
Using bigger words comes naturally to me.
I rarely even think about it, because I've done it for so long.
(We are defiantly a product of who we talk to most...)
I don't celebrate any of the holidays as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. (Or, hopefully, very soon to be one...)

Pixar is nice, but I'm tired of the emphasis being on those types of films. Rapunzel, I hear, is going to be in 3D as well. I don't know how I feel about that. It's a little upsetting. And you know Disney. Nothing is ever too close to the original story. Kids still have to be able to watch it and be able to glean the good life lessons rather than dwell on the upsetting, scary, or otherwise un-kid friendly aspects.

Kisaki Isabella-
oww now thats intersting..
i think my mom was one for awhile when growing up *she was moved from grand parent to grand parent* but she never really talked much about the religion itself
IN order to become one do you have to go to school to learn more of it.. or is it somthing you can just go to the church for awhile then regester as a member?

Well I don't know what kind of life lessons Rapunzel can teach. The mother gives agrees to carry a witch's child because her husband was found getting cabbage (or some type of veggie I can't remember) out of her garden. She gives the baby to the witch and the witch raises her. Rapunzel meets a guy and gets prego with him- the witch notices by the growing bump and pokes his eyes out but he hears Rapunzel's voice and her tears heal his eyes and they get married before she can pop out his child. Nice.

Well, it's a process.
You first have to come to an understanding of the basic Bible truths, and know them, study them, apply them -- through meeting attendance, personal bible study, an at-home bible study with a publisher (who is an already baptized Witness) if you're not born into it, and other special assemblies and people's experiences.
When you think you're ready to shoulder the responsibility of bearing the name, you tell your instructor, parents, whoever it is that applies, that you're ready (meaning you KNOW and you've already begun putting into practice Bible principles [ie, not smoking, not getting drunk, not practicing spiritism... etc]) and then you talk to the congregation Elders.
They ask you a series of questions to make sure you know what you need to know. You become an Unbaptized publisher after a while. Going out in service. Getting into the swing of things.
Then you make a dedication (through prayer) to Jehovah God and get baptized at either an Assembly or a convention.

^__^;
Hope that clears some things up.
Any questions you have, I'd be more than happy to answer.

Lmfao, sounds gruesome.
But then again, so does the original Little Mermaid story where the prince falls in love with somebody else, she goes to kill him, but instead throws herself off a cliff and dies....
Disney spins it like we'd never even think to spin it.

Or like Snow White making the wicked step-mother dance on a bed of coals/in glass slippers until she died lmao. I love fairy tales, I have millions of different books with the originals in them and books written about fairy tales and so on and so forth.

goodness sounds like alot of memory work
BUt i think its awsome that your able to apply yourself so fully into somthing you beleive in ^^.
Converting to judaism is similer in a way. However you go to school for 3-4 years (like a class weekely)
To get a crass coures on the history, basic facts of the tora and begin taking the langue coures since most survices are held in hebrew.
Also by learning hebrew you can then read the tora yourself and translate it teachings to better learn then to simply listen and nodd your head.
